Do AP Classes Have To Agree With Your Major?

So, I am a stem oriented kid, but the majority of AP classes my school offers are social studies oriented. So I took 2 AP social studies classes in 10th grade, and I’m planning on taking 3 AP social studies classes next year. But I’m also doing science research in and out of school and science is going to be the focus point of my college app and my major. So is it bad that I’m taking all these social studies classes?

No

Hopefully you are not doubling/tripling up at the expense of other core subjects, because that would be problematic.

Thanks and No, I’m just filling my elective space.

As long as you are completing the expected well rounded college prep base curriculum (see http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1995563-faq-high-school-college-prep-base-curriculum.html ) and are just filling free electives, that should be fine.

Colleges want to see you take the most challenging courses you can. If all they have is Honors Calc, then take Honors Calc. Your school will send a school profile that describes what classes they have.

Make sure you take Bio, Chem and Physics during your HS career and an AP version if they have it.

Can you be specific, state what you’d be taking, and list all AP or DE, Aice, IB classes, offered?
