Do colleges consider awards you got in middle school? I was in MATHCOUNTS in 7th and 8th grade, and I did the best in my school in both years. Also I got above a 700 in math SAT in 7th grade, so that I was accepted into SET (Search for Exceptional Talent). I know that SET can write a letter for me to colleges.

ah, not much. i have over 2000 hrs of community service credit from middle school.

I hope not.

I don’t think they count, unless the university asks for it.

Holy mother, that’s a high score for a seventh grader.

Is it really? I know a bunch of people who’ve gotten 700+'s on math in middle school. I know at least two people who got 800’s.

Anyway, anything in middle school does NOT count. At all. Unless if you write your essay about it.

In elementary school I was in the math olympiad and placed first place in like Los Angeles but Im pretty sure they dont care.

Yeah. I don’t think anything in middle school will be considred. Which is why I put absolutely no effort into 7th and 8th grade. Too bad I was so overwhelmed when high school came around (While others don’t study and still make good grades, I’ve been busting my ass off since August).

actually, 700 is a high score for anyone…not merely a 7th grader

What about CTY? I know someone who put down CTY on his apps, and he said that is helped. Also, since I’m also in math league in high school, maybe I can put that I was in MATHCOUNTS since 7th grade, just as a note. Would that work?

I placed 8th for the county(Westchester-but I moved to balmy CA in 03) in a French competition…I believe it was 8th grade.

Does that count?!?!?!?!

I wished awards obtained in middle school counted. That would be so cool.

Awards in middles school don’t count.

SAT-1 math is logic, and doesn’t need advanced knowledge of calculus or algebra or anything, so it’s very possible for that to happen.
