I’m currently in my first semester at UW-Madison, looking to transfer for my sophomore year. I had a 3.8 GPA in high school, 30 on ACT, and was very involved. As far as my university credentials, I am in the honors program of my college, and I’m working currently. I couldn’t really forecast what my GPA will be for my first semester. What are my chances?

Do you really think anyone here can credibly answer this? Chances threads on CC are always a fool’s game, but chancing a transfer with no GPA requires a crystal ball.

Do your best this semester and you may yet find a home in Madison. Its a great school so give it a fair shot. Something made you choose it.

Cole, something that may be more helpful to you than a “chance” post is the UVA Transfer Admissions blog. Plenty of folks here will be happy to answer questions about UVA, but the vast majority of us don’t have any special insight into admissions (Dean J being a notable exception, but she doesn’t chance!). Good luck!

probably they seem to let anyone transfer in

UVAchance: that’s not true, as you can see at: [IAS Historical Data: Transfer Applicants](http://web.virginia.edu/iaas/instreports/studat/hist/admission/trans_total.htm)

Rates are usually in the 30%s range
