Do I need to apply OPT for unpaid internship on campus?

<p>I’m currently enrolling at a CC on my F1 Visa. I registered for an “internship” class in which it will transform work experience hours into credits( eg 5 hrs/week = 1 credit). I just passed the interview for an unpaid-voluntary internship position on campus(Computer lab position) in order to take the class. My manager said I don’t need to do any paperwork since it’s voluntary position. My question is do I have to apply for OPT? Thanks alot</p>
