Do instagram accounts like @columbiasidechat accurately capture the undergraduate experience?

Not casting praise or aspersion on the account but trying to understand if this is a parody/joke that might not have existed when I was in school or if accounts like this accurately reflect how people act/feel at undergrad today.

I think accounts like this are more indicative of a particular Gen-Z sense of humor/satire/self-deprecation rather than being indicative of a particular university.

My D at a similar school sends me some of these posts and memes (the ones I will understand lol). I also notice that some of the memes are shared on satire accounts across multiple universities.

Not sure if you’re a parent or a student. I’m a parent and I regard these accounts as a glimpse into a different generation’s sense of humor. Sometimes the posts are deeply funny and incisive. Sometimes very dumb. But 100% they are parody accounts that did not exist until recently. Don’t think we had the equivalent back in the old-timey days when I went to college (the mid 90s). Between covid and other world events the last 4-5 years, these accounts have really proliferated and developed more of a distinctive “voice”.
