Do sports camps count as summer activities?

When applying to colleges, should I put down that I did a sports camp over the summer or should I leave that out? Thanks!

It counts, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you should put it down if you’ve done better things. You only have ten spaces on the Common App.

One way to handle this is the following. List the sport name in the ECs (say, volleyball). Put “See Additional Information” in the comment. Then in the additional information section, put something like this:

Volleyball:

 • 9th - High school “C” team, top kill statistics on team.
 • 10th - JV, “Most Improved” award
 • 11th - Varsity starter, letter
 • 12th - Captain, won team Athena MVP award. All-conference.
 • All high school years - played JO Volleyball for VB Winners team. 6th place team national finish 11th grade.
 • Attended Nike summer volleyball program after 9th & 10th grade

You want to be concise (bullets, not essay). But it is a way to group together activities that are closely related without using up a bunch of the EC spaces, and also present a coherent picture of one activity.
