Do teachers have to inform you if they are going to put something in your file?

I am just wondering if teachers have to inform you if they put a disciplinary record or something in a student’s permanent file in high school. Thanks

No, unless school policy dictates otherwise. However, you should be able to know what is in your file. Additionally, I think it is highly unlikely that a teacher can place something in your file without going through the Assistant Principal for Discipline (or whatever it’s called at your school.) Ask your GC.

The short answer: No.

But, as @skieurope said, if it’s something negative, you should be aware of the action and not surprised to see it added to your file.
