Totally frivolous topic, I know. But I’ve never been able to bring myself to put a sticker on my car, either with my school’s name (back when I was a student or recent grad) or my kid’s.

This is probably because my father “poisoned the well” decades ago by remarking to me that it was just a way of boasting about how much tuition you were paying! :D

On the other hand, we went to an accepted students’ event locally and we were literally the ONLY car without a sticker!

I put my sticker and my daughter’s college sticker on the car (left rear quarter window) in order to publicize small liberal arts colleges. People have noticed the stickers and asked me about our schools. It’s one way to get the word out about the diversity of college choices in this country.

I don’t want someone to think I’m bragging and vandalize my car when I’m not looking.

I never put ANY stickers on my car except those required by law.

I have both of my kids stickers on my car. Both are small privates out of state and little known in our area. They make me smile and easier to find the car. I’m not very good at remembering where I park and there are lots of little tan cars out there.

I like stickers. I have the kids’ schools and my undergrad school. I have some running stickers and one of those snooty stickers with the two letters for my new hometown (which isn’t really snooty because no one can ever figure out what those letters mean). Oh- and I have a small Texas flag decal to honor my last home state.
Used to have the kids’ high schools on there but got tired of scraping stuff off each time WildChild “changed” schools!

I don’t do it to brag. I think it’s fun and I meet people who went to/have kids at the schools.

D put her college sticker on her car (actually one of our cars). Neither my H nor I have put a sticker on our cars. I’m thinking about a license plate holder that says ______ Parent.

We did…DS’s school had the ones that are like Colorforms…peel on and off easily. DD’s were decals…what a PITA those are. We have them but never put them on the cars. Ditto DS’s grad school. He did have a parking permit for the school on his car. Does that count?

Yes, but it goes inside the rear window and doesn’t show up very well with the tinted glass. Doesn’t really matter, if it’s not UGA down here, they don’t care or notice.

We do, but two of the kids went to the same school so only 2 for the 3 kids! I haven’t brought myself to put the law school sticker on the car yet though…

I got one “My child is an honor roll student at…” sticker the whole time I was in k-12, and within days of getting it my mom forgot to take it off before returning the car to the dealership. My feelings were hurt briefly (it was 7th grade), but it has been more of a running joke since then. (“yeah, you were definitely Mom of the Year the year you gave away my honor roll sticker!”). The first christmas after I started attending umich I got her a michigan parent license plate frame and told her it was “the ultimate honor roll sticker” and that if she put it on the car we’d be “even.” So my parents have a license plate frame on one of their cars. :)

I never thought of it as bragging but more a sense of school spirit. When my kids chose which college to attend at the accepted student event, they each got a sweatshirt and a car decal.

But I feel bad about one thing. For D1, her college and grad school decals are on my rear window. But for D2, her college only makes the kind of decal that is like static cling colorforms that go inside the window. I put it on but nobody can see it as the window is tinted and it doesn’t show through. Therefore, I think it looks like we only care about one of our kid’s schools.

I also like seeing college decals on other cars. It can be a topic of conversation if you run into someone. I see it in the same way as a college sweatshirt.

My kids went to and are at a private school (K-12) that seem to stir up certain feelings among people in our surrounding towns. For that reason, I never put a sticker of their school on our car. Since D1 went away to college, I miss her a lot, I like to see a sticker of her school in my rear view mirror. I now have D1’s college sticker and D1&D2’s private school (K-12) sticker on our car. It’s not for bragging. It just reminds me of my kids whenever I see the stickers when driving.

Ditto. Same reason(#1) don’t wear any school clothes.

No stickers. Both kids went to expensive privates, and it just didn’t seem like a wise thing to do. I try not to draw attention to myself while driving in Los Angeles.

Right now I have two stickers on my car. One says “Play more violin” and the other says “Carnegie Mellon”. The violin sticker occasionally generates a comment. If the other sticker gets one high school kid to think about CMU that wouldn’t have otherwise, that’s okay with me. :)
