I have FB and that’s all. I have several friends who have Instagram, also. If you have it, what do you use it for that you can’t with FB?
I have it and most of the posts on my Instagram feed are duplicates of Facebook posts. I rarely check it.
I got an account when my daughter wanted one in middle school (our rule was that I had to have access to her social media). I never use it now.
I have a few friends that use Instagram but never post on FB. Only a few duplicate.
I have Instagram. I really like it. I usually post on Instagram and then have it post to Facebook. My kids/nephews/nieces etc… rarely post on Facebook but frequently post on Instagram. I check Instagram more than I check Facebook. I also follow a few professional athletes.
I have Instagram because once in a while my son will post something on there, and that is the only social network platform on which we are connected.
I have Instagram as well. I post pictures there I don’t always post on FB. A lot of the younger ones in my family have it and not FB. I also like following natgeo, a bernese mountain dog one, misty copeland. It’s not about me posting for others, I like seeing videos and pictures.
Yes, I follow most of the natgeo photographers and a number of adventurers. It is much more photography oriented. The two spheres (Insta and FB) barely overlap for me.
No and I don’t want to be. I’m leaving Instagram to the younger generations. They really don’t want us ruining it like we did to Facebook.
So, what is it you like better about it than FB? Is it because it’s more picture oriented?
Only because D1 and my niece & nephew use it more than FB. I don’t especially like it.
I LOVE Instagram. Overall, prefer it over Facebook.
FB has become a bunch of sharing of other posts, recipes, quizzes, all that stuff. I like seeing people’s life updates but I feel like people aren’t doing that much anymore. FB to me is more stressful if that makes sense.
Instagram is quick and low key. You scroll through, see pictures and a quick caption about something someone wants to post. It ACTUALLY happened, it’s not a “share” of something overall. All you have to do is “like” it - occasionally someone comments. Nice and low key. I love seeing a photo or two of where people have been, a fabulous food item, a funny picture moment of their day - but not have to see or read or be bogged down with other comments.
I also enjoy following a few bloggers, etc. for their Instagram stories. A story is several clips of their day. Might be random stuff. Might pertain to a project they are working on or a trip they are taking. Lots of good humor.
My kids say I’m a good Instagramer!!!
I am a hearty social media consumer. I also love Twitter. FB is probably lowest on my chain of consumption except for some groups I belong to on FB that I really value.
I have it but rarely post. S3, DD and niece only post there now having pretty munch left Facebook except for a rare cross post. So I have it to keep up with them and some others that only post there. It is very picture oriented so that is what I like. I also follow Hawaiian Airlines and Lufthansa because they post beautiful pictures and thedoggist who posts great dog pictures.
I agree with @abasket I feel like I have to sludge through FB to find the content I want and Instagram is quick and what I am interested in.
I just recently started following UPSdogs which is very cute.
I have noted how many times I leave my FB feed feeling overwhelmed or overloaded or stressed or bogged down or just eye overload from reading or finding what I want to read.
Instagram is like a nice “ahhhh…!” moment - much more gentle on the mind. For the most part I don’t see complaining, whining. For those I follow there is no arguing. Just simple pictures, simple captions. No one gets in trouble!
I have it and love it. Both of my kids and their spouses have accounts and that is where they post the pictures of their travels and of my granddaughter. Posts on FB are rare for any of them as they have so many friends and they seem to want to share their pictures with a smaller audience. I post a few pictures a year, but last year when they did the top 9 collage I didn’t have enough pictures posted to even generate one for 2017! I get pictures of the royal family, decorating pics, and foodie pics/recipes as well. No politics, which I like as I keep all of that in a small closed group on FB. Like @abasket, I find it enjoyable for the simple visuals.
Oh, and I almost forgot! My D & SIL have a precious golden doodle and while I am not a big dog lover, I love this dog. They maintain an account for him and he has more followers than any of his people! Love following him there.
Yes, because my D set it up for me. But there are a few good photographers I follow. Tumblr has some really good visuals if you’re into that sort of thing.
I don’t have Facebook, but I have Instagram. I don’t post anything on Instagram, but I follow one of my kids, a photographer friend, and some National Parks.
FB is too much. Too much gossip, too much politics, too many games and too much stalking. Instagram posts are not conducive to long discussions or commentary. After one or two comments, the comments get buried. It’s fantastic.
They also have Instagram stories which are videos or pics that disappear after 24 hours.
I loathe FB but love Instagram.
I don’t have FB or Instagram. I really have zero interest in what other people are doing on social media.
