Do you sometimes shop where your daughter shops?

I introduced my daughter to one of her now-favorite stores, Brandy Melville (-; We share a lot of clothes (funny how our shared items all went with her to college) from there, as well as from Urban Outfitters, Topshop and thrift stores.

Forever 41…love that!

We all shop the same “store” - the Internet.

( That should be Forever 39. )

The Loft and Title 9 are stores/catalogs where we cross over.

I like Anthropologie more than my D, but we both love Bergdorf Goodman!

REI-Prana and H&M

The d’s and I all can shop at Banana Republic, J Crew, Anthropologie although I haven’t found anything there for myself in a really long time, I’ve bought a few things when I am shopping with them for myself at Uniqlo, recently a grey houndstooth three quarter sleeve wool dress that I’ve worn with tights and boots to work when I am going somewhere after work. We all tried it on and it fit me the best. I shop at Ann Taylor but they don’t, and we can all shop for various things depending on what they are in Lord and Taylor, Macy’s, and Bloomingdales. We all have ordered from Zappo’s, Piperlime and Nordstrom.com.

What about grandmothers? My mom, my daughter and I all love Vince and James Pearse. We also all shop at Anthropologie, Madewell and (once in a while) Uniqlo. My mom and daughter both shop at Zara; I can never find anything there I like. My mom will take my daughter to Forever 21 (which I can’t stand) but as far as I know my mom hasn’t bought herself anything there.

My younger daughter worked at Anthro/Urban Outfitters in high school through college, and for a while after she graduated, so got a big discount. I shopped at Anthro a lot then but have a hard time paying full price now. We have all (both daughters) shopped at Nordstroms, J Crew, and Gap. Not much crossover other than those, but if you find things you like in a store that targets a younger age, I say go for it- no need for disguises!

We both do really well at consignment shops, and goodwill.

Gap, for a long time now. The closest clothing store to my house. Though their quality is not what it once was, so I have less interest. H&M does not have the fabrics I like. One D, the professional likes J Crew and Banana Republic. Those are more splurge clothes for me, but I like them just fine. They refuse Eddie Bauer, but tolerated a down coast from there.

Speaking of west coast thrift, anyone share a liking for Buffalo Exchange? My Ds shop there when on the west coast, which warms my heart as it was my go to store in Arizona as a 20 something.

My D’s love Buffalo Exchange to sell their clothes but think they are a bit overpriced to buy things from. Our older one’s in-laws own a very large thrift store near our Buffalo Exchange and she finds more clothes there. BE is still fun to browse in.

I’ve been seeing a lot of ads on my Facebook newsfeed for a store called Betabrand. Anyone familiar with it? I looked at their website once very briefly and it seems different from many other places. It was hard to tell if the clothing is for a more younger crowd, or could appeal to a wide variety of ages. Most of the models pictured are younger, though, so maybe it’s telling me something.

I, too, like Anthropologie, but the closest one is a good half hour away. One store that both D1 (28 y/o) and I like a lot is Athleta. It’s now become almost a ritual when she comes home for a visit, we have to go together. What I like about shopping with her is that she will tell me if something looks really frumpy on me, and also tell me if it looks too young for me. And again, the closest one is about a half hour away, so it’s not part of my usual errand-running territory (which is a GOOD thing).

I want to like Anthropologie. I want to pretend I’m single and living in a tiny apartment in Paris with all kinds of cool stuff. Maybe I bike to work or run along the River Seine or pop over to the Tuileries during my lunch break. But in truth the clothing fits me oddly.

I shop at Zara, Madwell and JCrew. Madwell.com has very nice casual wear and they have a lot of sales. My kids shop a lot at Saks, Bloomingdale and L&T.

oldfort- we need to go shopping! I love Madewell (a JCrew affiliate) and they are my favorite jeans. Also love JCrew, Zara and Limited. We don’t have a Zara here, though. My daughter and I do shop at the same stores but her budget is a lot less than mine and she is more reasonable about what she buys than I am.

Am I the only Prana person?

@rockymtnhigh, D15 has been wearing Prana since middle school (on sale, of course). She’s not a shopper, she doesn’t care about fashion, she won’t wear jeans, and she’s short (capris and knickers are perfect!). So, I decided it was worth it to buy her a few good pieces. I think she still has some of the originals or near originals. I would buy Prana, but nothing would fit, so it’s LL Bean tees and jeans for me.

Oldfort an MOfWC, can I join? Love to browse Madewell and JCrew. Kiddos wrinkle their noses at the stuff in the stores, but then my purchases mysteriously disappear from my closet… Nowadays I need to hide my Lulu stuff… they dig it.

This reminded me of another cool place we all shop - my closet!

I am 8" shorter than both of my girls, so my closet is quite safe.

Madewell, anthropologie, jCrew and Gap all have extra 40-60% off clearance this weekend. I know because I was shopping with my daughters at all of them yesterday!!!
