My daughters ( all three of them ) and I had a rare shopping together day in Boston a few months ago and we all bought something at the same store, Anthropology. The likelihood of that happening again is probably about the same as a solar eclipse .
My youngest shops at a store called Brandy Melville. We don’t have one anywhere near us so she does a lot of online shopping. She doesn’t tell anyone except her best friend where she gets her clothes. She doesn’t want anyone form her school wearing the same things as her….
My older girls shop at J Crew and Banana Republic mostly .
My daughter is a size 2…I am not a size 2. My closet is quite safe. My boots, not so much so. She takes my Uggs, and my leather boots all the time. Occasionally she “borrows” a scarf.
Both of us like JCrew styling, but the cuts don’t work on either of us.
If we shop together, it’s at Nordstrom, or LT at the mall.
Do you shop FOR your daughters? My business partner has a D the same age as mine (22), and she’ll buy her clothing, dresses, shoes, costume jewelry, etc, as we travel. OTOH, I would not buy clothing for my D unless I expressly knew a specific item she wanted. But I really don’t want other people buying me clothing either - it’s just so personal.
Thank goodness for smartphones. If I see a really good deal, I’ll take a pic and send it to my daughter asking if she is interested. I never buy something for her that can’t be returned!
chats- strangely the clothes that fit my daughters fit me. I guess we are shaped the same and have the same issues… my prana shirts have been borrowed on more than one occasion especially when traveling. gap jeans and banana republic clothes have also been borrowed. there is a favorite local women store here that is a favorite of D2. I found my mother of the bride dress there. I get her clothes from there for gifts if she is in town, then she can always go back and exchange for something different.
Pizzagirl, I don’t shop for my daughter. Weirdly, I like the things she wears – but she rarely likes the things I buy for her to wear. So I don’t. Unless she puts a specific item in size and color on her wish list, it’s no clothes for her. (My son on the other hand would go around half-naked if it weren’t for mom.)
My D is nowhere near my size but she likes loose flow-y things and my plus size tops often work for her as she is much bigger busted than I am. I do buy her clothes, but she is 15 so I understand her style and preferences. If I am not sure about something, I will send her a photo. I stick to basics for the 25 yo. She’s always good for a long sleeve shirt or hoodie. She wears a uniform for work so has no need for very fancy or expensive duds. I wouldn’t buy clothes for my son (30) on a bet.
I do not shop for kiddos for the same reason as Pizzagirl, except I can buy pretty much anything at Lulu, and the kids will like it. Even the Runsie!
My D is a size 0 or 00 and 5’2". I have 3 inches of height and some pounds on her. She’s learned I do have nice jackets and cardigans that she borrows during visits.
The sleeves on the tops in F21 and HM are so skinny…I feel like a giant when I walk in there, and feel like I should wear a sign saying “I’m shopping for my daughter” so they don’t wonder why I am there. Just kidding…kinda
Pizza girl, this isn’t the blog I was thinking of, but it shares my feeling about Anthroplogie.

My mom gets me clothes if she sees something she thinks I’ll like. She’s very rarely wrong (though I’m not picky).
I would honestly probably go around half naked if it weren’t for her buying me clothes or forcing me to go shopping on occasion. We both hate shopping but she will go sometimes whereas I’d wait until all of my clothes were hanging on by a thread if I could.
