Do you think that a URM stole your spot? Think again.

A lot of people on this forum argue that “if it goes down to you and an equally qualified URM, the URM will get the spot.” That argument is shaky because it won’t go down to you and a URM, it will go down to you and another white person and similarly it will go down to a URM and another URM. You are not competing with URMs: a large percentage of spots are reserved for white people, like you. A small percentage of spots are reserved for URMs, like me. Since you are not competing with URMs, it would make sense if you leave URMs alone and start resenting white people who are more qualified than you.

You are looking at it wrong. The fact that there are certain spots for certain races means there are less open spots for a specifc race.

Usually like 90% of the spots are reserved for white people.

Where are you getting your stats from, excatly?
And why are you so bitter about it?

URM? What is that?.. Or should I say Who is that?

^Considering most of the major colleges (atleast the ones most people here want to get into, the ones that there are special forums here for) are not anywhere near 90% White, I think you’re full of ****. Infact, many are not 90% White+Asian (discluding Hispanic) either.

To start off: OP’s argument is completely illogical. He’s probably a ■■■■■.

However. There is a much better reason why a URM didn’t steal your spot if you were rejected. If you are a borderline case, you get waitlisted. The number of people on the waitlist is greater than the number of URM’s admitted. So unless you got waitlisted (and didn’t get off the waitlist), AA can’t possibly be to blame for you not getting in.

I am bitter about it because I am tired of dealing with people who resent me because I am a URM and a college student. I guess I should quit college and go work at McDonald’s. That way a more deserving white student will have the opportunity to go to college and I’ll have a job that’s suitable for people with my ethnic background.

Stop worrying so much about what other people say/think and get over it.

None of us here are resenting you for being a college student. We don’t even know you, and we probably don’t go to your college.

You’re targeting the wrong people.

Your a racist.

^ Lol.

10 char

What is wrong with you? Why do you keep making these boards?

It’s really your fault for choosing a conservative, majority white school. If you were going to have such a problem with it you should have gone somewhere else then.

Where were all of these spots I could have stolen when I was applying to colleges? I think there’s a greater issue here: URMs stealing spots from other URMs.

Someone should do a study…

On a serious note: seriously, harping on what other people think of you isn’t going to get you anywhere, and it just makes you appear whiny. If the atmosphere of your school really makes you uncomfortable, transfer. It’s not that hard.

I would have transferred already if it weren’t because doing so would make me feel defeated.

Then be miserable. Good luck with that.

No, sorry, but 90%of the spots aren’t “reserved for whites”. Ever think that maybe since the MAJORITY of the population is white, a MAJORITY of the people at a random college would be white?

Critical thinking skills these days…

The point being that since there are a lot more white people in college than there are URM’s, white people face more competition from white people than URMs.

Do you want a medal of valor for being an URM in college or something? Get over it, major in poli sci, and go change our society. Because discluding whites and asians, most households don’t emphasize education as a top priority.

legal_immi are you a guy?
