“Because discluding whites and asians, most households don’t emphasize education as a top priority.”

Uh not true.

“Because discluding whites and asians, most households don’t emphasize education as a top priority.”

Uh not true.

No, that’s true, only Whites and Asians value an education

Seconded. And addressing patronizing posts like this to an entire forum is arrogant and arsey.

“The point being that since there are a lot more white people in college than there are URM’s, white people face more competition from white people than URMs.”

??? Stop whining. No one is making this an issue except you.

There is SO much faulty logic in this thread…

actually, legal_immi you might want to consider another college. How about a HBCU or another type of school with a large minority population?

“No, that’s true, only Whites and Asians value an education”

What the hell. That is not true.

There is so much anger in this thread…

legal_immi said that he was bitter and “tired of dealing with people who resented him because he was a URM and a college student.” Honestly… no matter how faulty his logic is, as a URM myself, I can see where he’s coming from…

And the people on this forum are doing nothing to help it; if anything, aggravating the issue…

uhhhh…that’s cuz the forum is mostly white

I’m glad I learned what a malapropism is in my minority household.

?ok, good for you?

There should be no requirements for schools to fill URM spots or any benifits towards URM’s at all. The best applicant should get the spot, no matter the race. OP as I stated earlier, you are a racist so stop trying to pretend your not. Look at a school like UC Irvince for example, good school but 54% Asian? URM’s my @ss. By that logic I should be givin priority because my race is only 30% of the population there! They arn’t handing the spots to those aplicants just because they are asian…but because they are the most qualified.

I am a URM but frankly I’m already in college so I don’t really give a $hit what they do with admissions now.

I see my joke fell flat.

Anyway, spots are not just handed to minorities. I’m black, had very good stats, and I still didn’t get into my top choices; however, I’m not going to tell people that they don’t deserve to go to a certain college. That is incredibly presumptuous, yet I have seen people on here express that very thought. Maybe someone did get your spot that shouldn’t have, but why do you assume it was a minority? Maybe it was a legacy. Maybe it was an athlete. Maybe the school just didn’t want you because there are tons of great people out there of all different races that have something to contribute whether it is great grades, athleticism, or just plain ol’ charisma.

Now, let’s all listen to some Bobby McFerrin.

Does it make me a bad person if I feel this way too?

The OP totally has a point so the backlash against him is kinda…odd.

I think it’s because, like it or not, OP, you got a push in the admissions process. Sure it may not have been the reason you got in. Sure, maybe you would have gotten in even if you were white. But being black is like having one extra coveted “EC” or something. It’s the same reason people resent athletes or something. So people are resentful. This resent comes from their own pettiness and idiocy, 1. even caring if you took their spot at some college (really who the f cares?) 2. assuming that you did in the first place.

Everyone who looks at an URM and says, Oh they got there because they were black, needs to take an f-ing step back. Nobody can look into an adcoms mind and see why they decided OP (or any other URM) got admitted. So if you are a decent human being and not a racist jerk off, you need to assume OP (and EVERY other URM you meet) got into the school based on their own merits, and not their race. Because you just don’t know. Some of them did. After all plenty of white people got in on their own merit and with no push from their race, so it makes sense that black people would be capable of the same. And treating somebody badly/thinking badly of a person and their accomplishments is just petty, anyway.

So what if an URM -did- take your spot (not directly, of course, that’s not possible, but indirectly)? An URM didn’t take your spot at every college you applied to. If you were rejected by every college you applied to, you must just be too dumb (either too dumb to apply to multiple prestigious colleges or just dumb in general). And we all know it doesn’t matter jack squat if you attend Harvard, Yale, UChicago, or State U, anyway. If you are smart and hard working you will have an equal chance of success in life no matter where you go. So again, stop being petty and moronic.

Sure, the OP’s logic was off - 90% of a class isn’t reserved for whites, in fact, no college has a “quota” to meet for white people but some do have unofficial quotos for minorities. But he feels the way he does for a reason, after all, just look at some of the equally idiotic posts that met him in response. An URM never deserves the assumption that he/she got in because of his race, and he/she never deserves resentment for it even if he/she DID.

Seriously, focus on yourself and making yourself into what you want to be, not on other people. And this goes for the OP, too.

I think the OP has mental issues.

I don’t think anyone cares about college admissions once they’re in college.

OP has severe psychological issues.

lol OP u mad?

Guys check Legal_immi’s post history. He’s either mentally deranged, or a very very good ■■■■■.
