It’s an old habit, cutting the coupons from the Sunday paper inserts. But since we stopped eating cereal and other sugary stuff, and since we buy most of our paper products at Costco, I am wondering if I should just skip the coupons altogether . . .

I still look through the coupons, but like you we are eating more healthy foods and less packaged stuff, so there is not much I still use them for. Sometimes shampoo for my kids, toothpaste.

I look for them when we are starting to run low on something, or if I see a regualr brand. One exception is that, since we drink soda in our house, I always scour the grocery pages for ridiculously cheap 12 packs. I also get the one for milk and eggs. I also search the ads for the cheapest meat or chicken specials to know where I am shopping.

I clip only the coupons that come in my newspaper and only the ones for items I always use. I don’t go crazy, but I do find that I can save a few dollars here and there, worth the 5 minutes it takes.

They CAN be good IF it’s something we normally buy and want otherwise rarely bother anymore. They can make us spend $$$ we don’t need to. For example, I almost ordered checks using one of the coupons in the Sunday paper inserts but then looked up our checking account info & discovered that we are entitled to FREE checks because we have a large enough balance. That is certainly better than the coupon I had been thinking about using. Called the 24/7 phone number & ordered the free checks and extra free deposit slips; they will be sent to me within the next two weeks.

I still clip coupons for items I would buy anyway, but the Sunday inserts have fewer coupons these days.

Less likely to clip coupons than I used to , but always look for deals on the web, especially those with additional percent off sales. Did take younger s to a dept store clothing sale and used the percent off coupons. Those make sense. The few pennies off coupons are less worth the time to gut them. My supermarket mails me coupons tailored to my spending pattern. I keep those in the car.

I use the BBB 20% off an item coupon, especially when Im purchasing an expensive item. I used one to buy my Dyson Vac. Safeway gives coupons based on your previous purchases and like jym I keep them in my car. Periodically I get a Safeway coupon for $5 or $10 off. I always use those.

Oh YES, the BBB coupons stay in my car too. Did you kow they work at Harmon drugstores too?

When I remember, I check for coupons at the Target website. But mostly I use the Target VISA there to get the guaranteed 5% off. Likewise, I print out the % off coupons that CVS emails me and check the in store coupon printer before finalizing the list. I try to never pay full price at CVS.

BBB coupons yes. I don’t ever bother with the grocery store any more. I buy almost nothing that would ever have a coupon. (My favorite toothpaste and shampoos never seem to have them.) Sometimes Staples has something. Or EMS will give me a coupon. I’m really bad with the CVS coupons, they always seem to run out before I get back there.

Don’t forget to use the BBB coupons at Harmons, mathmom!

I get my fruit & veggies delivered but still buy cereal and dairy especially from grocery and still use coupons. I was surprised that there so many lactose free coupons and healthy cereals. I only go to grocery once every three weeks but still save 50% each time, so it certainly worth it.

I use coupons for personal care items (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste), first aid stuff (band aids, Advil, neosporin) and papergoods. Not so much for food items.
I generally check couponmom dot com. All the matching of the coupons/sale items is done for me.

I had no idea I could use those BBB coupons at Harmons, but will keep it in mind from now on. The only trouble is about all I buy at Harmon’s is shampoo and deodorant!

We dropped the subscription to the paper about a year ago - have not missed it or the coupons. There are plenty of them on line.

I have never gotten a CVS coupon and yes I have their stupid and mostly useless card.

I cut out the coupons for my hair color
and keep them in my purse. When I see a sale, I use them.

I have about 15 BBB coupons right now, and one that is 20% off the entire purchase. I’ll use that one for a shower gift where I’m buying a bunch of items.

I believe Harmons is owned by the same parent company and they take the copons with no problem (or at least they did when I used them when I was up visiting my dad and actually remembered to bring them!)

No coupons (except a few targeted one s that come out of the the grocery store cash register). I do try to prioritize items discounted with Safeway (or King Sooper) store card.

thumper1 - At some point I linked my CVS card to my email account. I think if you just go to the main website you can follow directions there. Almost every week I get an email that links me to the main website where I can print out some kind of coupon. About once a month it is for 20% or 30% off. Sometimes it is for a discount on a specific item. Since it turns up in my in-box I see it right away. Half the time I don’t have any shopping planned, but when I know I’m running low on X, Y, and Z I do use them. There also is some way to link the things to your CVS card but that is definitely well beyond my skill level.
