Does anyone have Bosch or LG kitchen appliances?

We don’t…yet. BUT DH (who researches everything) says our next fridge will be LG.

Another vote for Bosch dishwasher. I loved it. Now I have a Kitchenaid. Everyone says KItchenAid cleans better but that has not been my experience. It could be due to a different detergent I use. Does anyone use phopherous-free detergent?

We do, because the others are illegal in our county.

mythmom, Sometimes the energy savings will offset the cost of a new refrigerator fairly quickly; with a little research you might be able to talk yourself into a new one.

mythmom, do you prewash thoroughly before loading? How do you keep the dishes clean?

We went to get a Bosch dishwasher but after comparing the interior layouts, we came home with a Miele. We have been very happy with our decision. We love the third shelf for cutlery and it is virtually silent.

I have a Bosch dishwasher. I love the quietness of it but am not in love with the configuration of the dish racks inside. If I had studied that part more carefully before buying, I would not have bought it.

Okay. We ended up with the LG frig - 3 door not 4 door and the Bosch dishwasher, dual range and micro. I’ll hope for the best. Now on to granite and tile!

Iglooo: In the past we didn’t prewash, but now we do pre-rinse. Small price to pay to protect the environment!!!

1moremom: Thanks for the tip.

twinmom: Hey. You’re moving right along!

I have had Bosch in our home for many years and will be doing a kitchen reno next year. Earlier this year we bought a second home that has Dacor stove, ovens and microwave; Miele dishwashers and subzero fridge and wine cooler. I love all of them and will be attempting to get the same here. The dishwashers, in particular, are terrific, with the pullout utensil rack/shelf across the top of the d/w. They are so quiet than you literally have to put your ear against the door to make sure it’s on!

That’s what I am debating about with myself. Yes, I am using phosperous free det. A lot of water wasted in prewash tho, I wondered if someone has a magic solution.

We considered naming our our dog Pre-rinse. As soon as he hears the dishwasher open he’s there to help.

I have the french door set up, twinmom; is that what you got? I like it a lot. I was just remembering, my parents’ house when I was growing up had a Sub Zero and the compressor was actually in the basement. Totally silent and it ran for thirty years.

Do not get the Bosch dishwasher. It sure is quiet, because it is not really working. I replaced a Sears Kenmore washer with it, and I long for the days of the Kenmore. The Kenmore washed dishes. The Bosch only quietly rinses.

1moremom: I did get the French door setup. I was between the 4 door (2 doors on the bottom) and the 3 door and went for the 3 as I liked the more traditional look better.

And I did get the Bosch dishwasher. I read so many reviews - the one I got has the silverware baskets in the front and people seemed to be really happy. One can only hope!

I have a Bosch DW that I purchased after reading many positive reviews of it and it works really well - not just quiet but it cleans the dishes really well. The only time I’ve seen an issue with clean dishes is if the garbage disposal had junk in it and wasn’t run just prior to washing the dishes. The DW drains into the garbage disposal (in our particular installation) and if it’s not clear it can cause the not so clean dishes. Otherwise, the dishes are quite clean.

Since yours seems to be the exception with less than clean dishes you might want to either check the drain path from the DW to make sure there’s not a blockage (check the interior of the DW also) or have a service person check it out. It’s not normal for a Bosch to not clean well.

I’ve had Kenmore appliances as well. One issue with ‘Kenmore’ is that it’s a marketing name, like 'Costco’s ‘Kirkland’ - they don’t actually make the appliances. This means that unless you research it you don’t actually know who the manyfacturer of the appliance is. As long as Sears selects the appliance manufacturer carefully, and they usally do, this isn’t a problem but something to consider. Traditionally they’ve used Whirlpool quite heavily as the manufacturer - as has Costco.

I just bought a Bosch DW from Sears. It is not yet installed so I can’t tell you how well it works. Bosch also makes DW for Sears. The Sears salesman was able to tell us which Kenmore DW was made by Whirlpool and which was made by Bosch. We ended up buying the Bosch DW because that particular model was reviewed by Consumer Reports and it was on sale. Otherwise, we would have bought a Kenmore made by Bosch.

I have a Bosch dishwasher. It is the only appliance in my kitchen that I have NOT had repaired ever in 10 years! Love it—quiet and no smell at all.

One design problem with the Bosch dishwasher—things like grains of rice get stuck inside the little holes in the sprayer arms. Since the arms don’t open up it is difficult to remove these. Have to use something like a toothpick. Anyway, when this happens the dishes do not get clean. Does anyone else have this problem?

We’ve had a Bosch dishwasher for 8+ years, running 1-2 full loads every day for my family of six, and we’ve only had two service calls in that time, for plugged hose both time. Highly recommended.

have had Bosch DW for 10+ years, no issues. I’d buy it again.
