We have a “bottom of the line” Bosch DW. It is approx. 6 mo. old. So far, it has been fine. We DID have the odor problem, which I had not read about until after our purchase. Still under warranty, we called both the installer and the company. The company said it was because of the tight seal and suggested we leave the door open a crack between washings. We thought it was an excuse, but tried anyway. Works like a charm! It does not look open. It simply needs a small amount of air instead of sealing it tightly. We did read that they were quiet, which we were not concerned about at first. However, now that we have it, we love it.
The inside racks are slightly smaller than many, but we needed the extra inch or two depth for installation purposes in our home. My only complaint is that the silverware tray is at the back of the bottom basket. When I’m looking for that special gadget that has not yet been washed, I need to open and pull out all the dishes. Front location is far more convenient. This is a very minor complaint for all the advantages over our old DW.

We just got a Bosch dw a couple of weeks ago to replace a warhorse Kenmore that died after 14 years of valiant service. So far:
- love the way it cleans – scrape and go. Even got baked on gook off casserole dish.
- love the loading flexibility you get with no center post top or bottom.
- Don’t love the tine arrangement, which is spaced a little too closely to handle thick ceramic cereal bowls.
- Don’t love the glass racking which leaves my upside-down glasses too flat – and the dimple on the bottom collects water.
- Love that I don’t have to worry about bottom rack being near a heating element – anything can go wherever it fits.
- Like the ability to completely pull out the top shelf if I’m loading in really big things.
- Don’t love – but don’t hate – that I need to open the dw at the end of the cycle and blot water off the tops of glasses and mugs and then let the heat finish the drying process.
– Love, love, love, love how quiet it is, especially given our open plan house. I got a SHE55M

Surprise – while the nominal regular cycle is 120 min, if the dw decides that the load is not really very dirty, it drops that time considerably.

Caution: Two different sales folks at kitchen shops warned me not to pre-wash dishes with liq. dish soap – said I wouldn’t need to ever do more than a quick rinse, and that a scrape would be just fine – and both said that a little bit of powdered detergent was all you need – 1 T for light soil, 2T for heavy, as well as rinse aid loaded every couple of months. Warned against using both the all-in-one packets + separate rinse aid.

Our state has rebates on Energy Star dishwashers – yours might too.

Thanks again for the feedback. Sounds like most people are happy overall. We got the model with the movable silverware caddies. We would not have been happy with one in the back.

It’s the LG frig that I’m a bit concerned about. I keep reading mixed reviews.
