Does anyone remember this?

I was talking with my family today and we were talking about a dessert we used to have.

It almost looked like lasagne…it had a layer of ice cream, then chocolate, then ice cream, then chocolate, etc. I can’t for the life of me remember what it was called, and it is driving me CRAZY.

The closest thing I can think of would be an American Parfait… but that doesn’t look much like lasagne. It has layers of topping then ice cream though.

No, it’s definitely not parfait. :(

I FOUND IT!

It’s called Viennetta. ^_^

Do they still sell it? I remember that dessert.

I don’t think they do…I haven’t seen any in the stores for as long as I can remember.

Yeah, it turns out they don’t have it anymore. I am referring to the one from Breyer’s.

I think that’s the same one I’m thinking of…not quite sure who made it, but there can’t be too many Viennettas floating around, can there? :)

Come to Australia! You can buy Vienettas in Melbourne! Only the vanilla icecream one though. I haven’t seen the chocolate or mocha flavours for years.

It used to be my favorite dessert, but I have not seen it in stores lately. I wonder why Breyer’s stopped selling it in the US.

Great, now I not only have insomnia, I have a craving for ice cream in layers with chocolate flakes…

So if it is 2:30 am on the East coast, it’s 11:30 p.m. on the west coast and late tomorrow afternoon in say, Sydney…

Yep, it’s about 5pm Friday arvo in the eastern states of Australia.

I think Viennetta comes back in the stores around Christmas time. That’s when I saw it last year.

It sounds similar to that dessert made with ice cream and those thin, round chocolate cookies.

It makes me sad that they don’t make it anymore. :frowning: I used to LOVE that stuff.

I just saw a story on Today about products from the '70s that are coming back. No word on Vienetta, but look for Squirt gum, Underoos, Brim coffee and Salon Selectives.

The one with the chocolate cookies is called “ice box cake” at least around here. My husband still makes it.

I’ve got a box of the chocolate wafers on my counter, ready to make into ice box cake later today, per my daughter’s request :)

I love it when my kids fall in love with my favorite childhood foods!

I’ve never heard of ice box cake, but sounds good.

“I just saw a story on Today about products from the 70’s that are coming back.” Cracker Barrel stores have a great selection of mostly candy that I haven’t seen anywhere else since I was a kid in the 60’s.

Vienetta fans, watch and salivate (I did):
