This popular class clown and I ran for academic council. I was super nervous to do so but i did it anyway. He went wayyy overtime while I meticulously timed mine. I know for a fact that my school does not vote based off of popularity because an unpopular person ran against the same dude and the unpopular person won.
I did not win the election. The thing is, when it was time to vote, I peeked to see other peoples vote and they were trying to hide it and I saw them vote for the other guy- the thing is, they were in my ADVISORY. I have a feeling that a lot of people don’t like me at my school and I’m not really sure why. The only reason that they might not like me is that I’m kinda a boring person and I might be too intense when it comes to being in a school setting ( like I take school super seriously)
And peeking to see other peoples’ votes is rather creepy. You may need some work on your social skills. This is a layman’s opinion, but we have a lot of experience with the Asperger’s spectrum in our family, and you may not comprehend how you come across to your peers.
A serious person loses to a clown? Hope that never happens in a national election. But seriously, @owl16548 , if you are a serious student, you will do fine in college. Say hello to the clown when you see him working at the gas station a year after graduation.
I don’t know the circumstances, but assure you in general most people like you. Not everyone is liked and that’s okay, just like not everbody agrees on the same thing.
Don’t take this serious or change your character. The other person I’m sure is great just like you. Don’t change you and carry such a negative question on your mind or heart. You throw up walls and your question will be correct. Sometimes our mind can be dangerous negatively.
Keep your head up, smile, and be happy.
Was a he a clown or an outward, sociable guy? BIG difference.
The fact that you think the student electorate even cares about the time constraint of the speeches speaks volumes.
Be thankful you did not lose to a criminal who should be in jail.
If you judge yourself to be significantly different than your peers then you are defining youself as unlikely to win a high school election.
Keep in mind that academic sorts who lose elections in high school are usually not yet in their pirimes.
Both.
What do you mean? Because I did not want to risk being cut off in the middle of my speech, in this case the teachers let him go on. I just like to plan ahead.
Was it really that creepy? Like it was two people and they were next to me- it’s not like I was hunting and using binoculars, but idk
Well, you’re never going to see most of them after high school anyway, so it really doesn’t matter in the long run. If they don’t know you personally, don’t take it personally. (Granted, that was a Kanye West tweet, but I think it applies to a lot of things.)
At least half of candidates for office lose Your loss is disappointing, but is not a sign that no one likes you. Everyone disliking you would be obvious, not secret If other students are routinely and, universally ignore you, make nasty or critical statements, bully you, and make you hate school every day, you would know it. I can’t think of anyone I met in school who was totally disliked, but we differed in popularity and friends. Maybe even some of your friends voted for others which is their right and a fact of life. For example, having a friend with influence where, you want to work, doesn’t guarantee you will be offered the job or would take it if offered. Chances are you will make a choice not to,vote for or hire a friend. It’s just part of life. If I saw you trying to see how I was, voting I’d drape, myself across the ballot whether or not you had my vote., Trying to see how others are voting is a really good way to make yourself nuts.
