i made an alternate version of the common app for my RD schools, since i already applied early to cornell and got rejected. problem is, i did some rounding down for the time spent on my activities (for example i try to volunteer at a shelter every week of the year, but i might not make it several weeks due to illness or family stuff or whatever. or i might stay there for 6 hours but sometimes i feel like i have a slow day, so i rounded down to 3 or 4 hours). but not everyone is so modest, so i was wondering if i should just put 50 weeks a year, 6 hours a week (it’s not like i have a slow day every week or get sick every week). will this look terrible on my application? i know this is not going to make or break my application but i still would like to know

I doubt Brown or any other university would know that you changed the numbers. They will only see them after you submit your application, and after that you won’t be able to change it.

Nina’s correct. However, I can promise you that you were not rejected from Cornell because you didn’t have enough volunteer hours. They care that you do these activities, but not how much you do them. I’d focus on working on your essays, since those are the main things in your application that you can change.

thanks to both of you. i know that this alone is not the deciding factor and i will be working very hard on my essays.
