does stanford hate us as much as we hate them?

Well I don't really hate them. I'm just wondering. My friend at Stanford says that people there don't care about Cal. Like they'll get into some of the bigger games (like football) just because we're crosstown rivals and that's understandable. But I'm looking at the new t-shirt design for the Big Game and i think, what an embarrassment.

I have seen red and white shirts that say “Beat Cal” if that’s what you’re asking

I don’t think they care. I was visiting their campus few weeks ago with my cal t-shirt on and only one person taunted me the whole time.

Last year, they impaled a Care Bear on the Stanford fountain and painted on red food coloring for blood.

Short answer is no.

But around Big Game time, there is legitimate aggression on both sides.

But does anyone at Cal actually dislike Stanford people? Probably not, but it’s kinda fun to participate in the rivalry ^___^

i meant like school hate. not hate on the people. (although i have heard some people make remarks on Stanford students…)

The fact that redirects to might explain why [some] Berkeley students dislike Stanford. Maybe it’s resentment for being rejected? During CalSO some people admitted that their first choice was Stanford. But I’ve never given this a thought since I only applied to UCs (first choice was Berkeley).

I hate Stanford because they rejected me. (srs)

I don’t really hate Stanford. I think I just “hate” them cause everybody else “hates” them too. Although if I were a Stanford Cardinal and not a Cal Bear, I would really love myself.

I dont think berkeley hates stanford, at least not me.
It’s just some kids who make a big deal out of it. I bet it’s the same for stanford.

My sister says at Stanford, people are less spirited when it comes to the Stanford-Cal rivalry.

Aka, they don’t really give a ****. When it’s big game time, they’ll say stuff like “Beat Cal!” but we definitely hate them much more than they hate us.

Yeah, I “hate” them because I was waitlisted and then rejected lol

I think a better question is why do you care what they think about you? Are you gonna’ act any differently based on any answers you get on here regarding LSJU?

No. The question didn’t come to mind because I cared what Stanford kids thought of me/Berkeley. It came up because I saw some t-shirt design bashing “Stanfurd”/calling the students ******bags and I thought how silly.

we hate them because we’re insecure about being at berkeley and want to consider stanford as our rivals

they dont hate us because theyre insecure and want to fuel their superiority complex by not acknowledging us as rivals

You all obviously have psychological problems you’re dealing with when you attempt to rationalize why Berkeley students hate Stanford. The real truth is that there is no real animosity between Stanford and Berkeley. There is just a spirited rivalry. Those of you who claim that Stanford does not acknowledge this rivalry have obviously not seen their campus the week of the big game.

School spirit would be pretty silly if anyone actually believed it (see [xkcd: Pep Rally](xkcd: Pep Rally)), but no one really does. Enough of the psychological gobbley-gook.

“The real truth is that there is no real animosity between Stanford and Berkeley. There is just a spirited rivalry.” ding ding ding

@yoplaitpeach, speak for yourself, lol…

Is there really a rivalry (aside from sports)? I feel like its a hopeless one-way thing…anyone get a feeling that Cal thinks* its equal to Stanford and Stanford is just like…wt f no way?

I don’t hate them, but I have to say it is a pity that students over there have no school pride. They got into Stanford, they’re so happy to be there, and that’s all they care, and that kind of attitude disgusts me.

Need a proof? How about a 70% attendance on their Stanford-Arizona game last Saturday? Both teams were in top 15 in the nation and that is not enough make people come on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
