Does taking AP statistics look bad on admissions?

I’m taking AP Calc AB currently (in my sophomore year) but, I’ve never really been in love with math, so would make sense to not take BC and go to statistics? Or would that look bad on my app? I know for a fact that I won’t be majoring in anything towards the science or mathematics fields.

I’m not lazy, there are just other classes in my junior year that I prefer to focus my attention towards, like APUSH or English.

In other words, would taking or not taking BC be a dealbreaker, especially for selective schools?

Well, first, never will taking any AP look bad on your app. Some AP’s will look better than others, but colleges will never look down upon you for taking an AP.

If you want my advice, I would personally take AP Calc BC. I think that would look the best on your app, and it provides the most challenge. If you take Calc BC next year, that opens you up to college-level math like Multivariable Calculus and it would be very good for you.

However, if you don’t feel like you can do that, you’re perfectly fine. For the most part, as long as you’re taking some kind of math for all four years, you’re good. By taking Calculus in 10th grade, you’ve pretty much already proven that you’re more than adequate an math. I think that going on to BC next year would provide an extra “umph”, but you’ve already done a fine job proving yourself a worthy math student. That’s my opinion, anyway.
