Does this make anyone worry?

This isn’t about me, because I am not really worried. I just found this website really interesting. What amazed me is that a lot of people regretted going to their university. I mostly researched UC’s, so I found the number of people that regretted their choice of college to be astonishing. I think that people don’t really know what they are getting themselves into when they apply to UC’s. Maybe it is the difficulty of the universities that turn off the people.

Here is the list by the percent of students that regretted going to their university.

Cal- 33%
UCLA- 42%
UCSD-52%
UCD-37%
UCSB-28%
UCI-23%
UCSC-40%
UCR-49%
UCM_ Not enough information

The sad part was that most Cal State Universities were worst. Most of them had a regret percentage of near or over 50 percent. Red equals regret. Here are the Cal States numbers

To go to the website, just remove the asterisks, and put in “students review”, without the space

I hope you were joking about not being worried. If you weren’t worried about regretting your choice, you would have made a decision weeks ago!

What’s the name if the link/ article- I can’t get it to open but is like to look it up.

@2016Candles Hahaha, I’m serious! I’m not worried at all! I’ll PM you the link.

I’m sorry, but I have to say this…

That website is a ****ing eyesore. The web design hurts my eyes.

@Cayton It is better when you view one university at a time. Your eyes won’t hurt if you click on a single one! You’re right about the design!

Link not working.

@CollegeDropout1

Maybe.

And we shouldn’t be too surprised. I used your link and found that even at Harvard University, about 25% of the students did not like it there.

There’ll always be a large percentage of students who don’t like the college they attend, but I do admit that the percentages in the cal states are worrying.

You are going to drive yourself to suicide with all this research/second guessing.

@CollegeDropout1‌ I think you should major in law (or psychology) as you leave no stone unturned in your quest to validate a position. :">

HAHAHA, Why do you guys think this research was for me, I already made my choice!

@lindyk8 Me doing psychology? HAHAHA That’s just nonsense!

You’ve “made your choice” many times. When you move into your dorm/ apt, and finish your first class, THEN I’ll believe it.

Eh… a lot of reviews are obviously biased. Gave the school a bad review because “Girls aren’t cute enough here” or “Prof. gave me a bad grade” Conversely, apparently “great parties” is a criteria for an excellent institution.

Overall, I’m not putting much weight on these reviews. Personally, seems like kids ranting and venting then giving actual reviews.

There are so many reasons people “regret” their choices of schools. I think very little of it actually has to do with the school directly.

It could be the city, neighborhood, or people they don’t love. It could be they wanted more or less of a party scene. Maybe they wish they had gone to an “easier” school, do they’d have a better gpa. Maybe they regret their choice of major, and now they dislike the whole school.

It’s hard to take this too seriously,

Or the university could have been over priced, like in this case.

<a href=“66k a year tuition. Is it worth it? - Financial Aid and Scholarships - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/1663625-66k-a-year-tuition-is-it-worth-it-p1.html</a></p>

I’m not really concerned by it. I wonder how many people regret taking the job they have or the apartment/house they live in.

I was super stressed about which school I get into, but I had a fantastic realization while dreaming one night that no matter where I go, I will make a good life for myself and receive a quality education. I can make the best of any situation in my life, and come out a better person for it.

I think everyone has their what-iffs. But I don’t think I would work 4 years at CC to get into a university and then regret going there. Your experience in college is like anything else-it’s what you make it.

@bear87, I think that is very true. In general, you make your friends, you’re group of 20 or whatever, and those are the ppl you are with. And when it comes to polls, have you ever seen how few ppl respond? People with gripes tend to respond or post reviews more often.

can confirm. I work in retail customer relations and probably deal with ~200 customers a week. I get feedback from usually 1-2 a month via our online follow up surveys, and its always the ones who had a negative experience, which is by far the minority.

There are so many opportunities at ANY university to make your experience fulfilling. I’m not saying all schools are the same, but I think some people would have had almost the same experience on any campus because their limiting factor is themselves. There is also a large issue w/college expectation vs experience. Every time Asher Roth’s “I love College” comes up on my Pandora I want to puke. Its probably an age thing, or experience, but I think a lot of kids go into college expecting the zero responsibility, party all the time, friends everywhere experience perpetuated in tv and movies. Which it can be for some people, but that’s not what its meant to be, and if that’s all you get out of it you’ve wasted the opportunity.
