Does this represent many teens or is it over board?

[Rihanna - We Found Love (Official Video) ft. Calvin Harris - YouTube](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tg00YEETFzg)

‘We Found Love" by Rihanna has been getting some talk lately about its controversial nature (drugs, sex, alcohol, shop lifting). Its meant to show the toxic relationships that many young people go through, but of course people will say the video is about Rihanna & Chris’ past relationship (but that’s another story). I personally seen such relationships that are bad, and very similar to the one shown in the video. So its real, very real. And that’s why its been getting so much heat.

You know, I live in a pretty sheltered home/city/school district, and although my high school is nothing out of “Freaks and Geeks,” “Glee,” etc., I’m always surprised by how many of schoolmates have sex, smoke, do drugs, shop lift…I think it’s rather accurate, but I’d take Rihanna’s portrayal with a grain of salt.

No, those songs are the reason why its much worse than it was. Kids learn what’s ok and whats not by observation, and let’s face it, tv and songs are about 80% of the average teen’s “observations”. Everyone THINKS everyone else does drugs and has sex, so we do it to go with the flow. But really not many do those things. o.O

@julieannab:
At my school a ton of people are having sex and doing drugs. It’s not as uncommon as your post seems to make it out to be.
I think the video has a message which to any level-headed teen would obviously be that a lifestyle filled with hardcore drugs/partying may seem fun to begin with, but it’ll only build up tension until you end up with inevitably harsh consequences. Sure the video may have been a bit over the top, but the message is there, the message is obvious, and it’s a good one.

@julieannab I think it depends on where you live. I see a lot and i mean a lot of that stuff going on around me everyday.

Anyways what’s wrong with sex? Meh.

The overall message is pretty strong and obvious, but the rest of the video… perhaps a little bit over the top? But only a little.
