doing homework in the middle of the night?

ur idea is cool
id do it but id probably oversleep and just wake up the next morning -_-

I think it’s a pretty good idea, but once I fall asleep, I can’t usually get up at the exact time I want to, so I just do my homework before going to sleep.

^the only real problem i see with this is that doing your schedule this late, if you have a lot of homework, then you only have so many hours to do it

I’ve done this sort of. Throughout high school it is rare that I actually have homework when I get home or if I do it usually only takes 10-15 minutes to complete. Instead, I do this with studying. Many times this year I would come home and go to sleep for an hour or so and then be less tired and study for my test/quiz the next day. The year before though I would often go to sleep, wake up at like 3 30, study for a bit and then go back to sleep. I had problems with this though because I would often be too tired to study and just wind up falling right back asleep. I would suggest studying before you go to sleep, it’s much easier for me atleast.

I don’t do this during the school year, but this is how I did most of my summer reading. It was easier to do it when I wouldn’t get distracted by AIM because no one was online, and I couldn’t get distracted by the TV because nothing but paid programming is on in the middle of the night.

The other night I worked on my summer reading from like 11 pm - 2 am.

i wish i could do this! junior year was the first time i’d ever get up early to do work/finish a paper/study and i would get so stressed out knowing that i had x amount of time left to figure out a conclusion, etc etc. and for some reason it is impossible for me to get up before 5:30 to get myself to do work…

I go to bed a t 10:00-11:00 and wake up at 3:00 most time to do HW, it works because I thrive on pressure…and you can’t get more pressured then completing labs/papers/and worksheets the morning they are due! Plus I feel more refreshed getting a little bit of sleep and making sure I get my 8 hours on the weekend.

homework?..

oh, you mean that stuff that teachers are supposed to give you at the end of the class period.

My sleeping pattern is somewhat irregular as well. I go home at 3, go to sleep from 3 to 6 or 7, then wake up and play until 10 to 12, do homework for 2 hours, then go to sleep around 3 and wake up. Granted, my schedule is not so strict and sometimes I sleep more or less or start homework even later. It helps me get the job done, but I have little time for a social life unless it’s Friday.

I tend to oversleep, too. I would get home at 5 or 6, waste time until 9 PM, fall sleep, wake up at 4 in a panic, and do homework in 2.5 hours. It was hard when there were tests the next day or I had a lot of homework. It was fine, in regards to getting work done, but I was mentally exhausted earlier and would fall asleep at 9 again, so the cycle would just keep happening…So, it didn’t work for me. It’s really hard for me to stay awake during the day/night and do homework, though. I’m still struggling with that.

this is interesting…the only problem I see is that I might not be able wake up at 3:00 AM and I might end up sleeping until like 7:00 AM…then I would be screwed.

I think it’s too risky. What if your HW takes longer than 3-4 hours? What if you have a test you have to study for also.

I’ve done this already a few times this school year lol. I don’t think it would be possible if I was doing a fall sport though.

Well, it might work if you’re sure you can get up and you’re sure you can finish

About the whole “I don’t know if I can get it all done” spiel.

I usually set an amount of time to finish my homework. Therefore, no matter how much I have, I still need to finish it in relatively the same time. You learn to do it way faster. Today I did my math homework in the 20 minutes I had in class.

The key to finishing your other homework quickly is fast reading and fast writing. If you have the motivation, you can always find a way to finish it.

That’s true, but sometimes if you have an insane amount of homework it’s just impossible to get it done in a certain amount of time no matter how fast you read, write, or want to work. It is true that having a deadline makes you work a lot faster though.

My friend did this and she was very efficient. I personally couldn’t deal with the anxiety of being up at 3 in the morning with school looming overhead. Something about it seems abnormal to me, but if it works for you, more power. :)
