Porn star was not on her college ap. This all started after her parents stopped paying tuition. Duke is likely not thrilled. We don’t know exactly what’s going on behind the scenes here but she has told conflicting stories and it’s reasonable to assume there are some family problems and this is a very public act of rebellion. I think the chances of her staying at Duke are slim to none. She has already announced dropping out once and then rescinded.

It’s been a long time since I was in college. Is it possible to stay on track academically while missing lots of classes?

Hey Flossy, maybe people could look at like somebody with cancer who can’t afford the chemotherapy. Do private fundraising to help the kid except she doesn’t know she’s sick?

Maybe, but she doesn’t want help and I don’t really think the fundraisers would be all that successful. Also, throwing money at her seems a bit too much like rewarding really bad behavior.

Crazy as this sounds after seeing her gagging I would pay some money to not ever have her do that again. It was disgusting.

Yes, I unfortunately saw it, too. The more you know the worse this situation becomes. Sadly.

Compulsion … meet rationalization.

People who see this thread and don’t think that something is broken on the most basic level of humanity, to me, must be missing a sense of decency. Humiliation porn is neither normal nor healthy. Many things that are legal are not moral. A man consented to being killed and eaten by a cannibal. Consent does not make it right.

When I watched the documentary about the death of Coleen Applegate, what was clear to me is that she was not proud at all of what she was doing, yet, because of the “easy money” and the fact that she was absolutely hooked on cocaine, she kept going until she could not live with herself anymore, as she did not see any way out(most likely clinically depressed as well). She shot herself in the head with a .45 carbine.

I mean, anybody who shoots himself/herself in the head with that type of gun has to be very screwed up in the head.

A lot of porn stars that committed suicide had some of the same things happening: feelings of guilt, drug addiction and clinically depressed.

She stated that she was horrified to have been outed, but it seems that was probably the best thing which could have happened. She will be hosting a “porn competition” reality show, but that’s got to be less risky for HER than making films.

<a href=“Belle Knox: Duke Porn Star Lands Hosting Gig on Porn Reality Show | Time”>http://time.com/53171/duke-porn-star-sex-factor-porn-reality-tv/

Interesting they describe these contestants who have never done porn as “first time porn stars.” The media likes to throw that word around a lot.

I love how everybody here thinks that she is doing this all for attention, yes she cut, that’s the only thing we know about her and according to her she was 13 when she cut so that was five years ago.

Do you know this girl? I find it funny how most of you haven’t even met her and act as if you know everything about her motives and just assume that she wants attention. She was crying when it got out to her college that she was doing porn, she didn’t want to tell her family she was doing it but had to eventually when it came out.

If you are 18 years old, you are old enough to enlist in the military, be sent into a foreign land to die for your country. If you are allowed to make that decision at 18 years old, then you should be allowed to make the decision to do porn. And yes, I know some of you might think that the military age should be older.

The reason the military age is 18 is because it’s much easier to get kids to take on stupid risk. If the enlistment age was 25 they would have a much more difficult time finding volunteers because they would be more likely to be thinking about their future, and when you’re dead, you don’t have one. It’s kind of sad our system let’s 18 year olds join the military, buy lottery tickets, sell their bodies for sex, but heaven forbid you can’t buy alcohol. Why do you suppose that is?

RHS,

Why do you suppose she didn’t want anyone, including her family, to know she was doing porn and cried when it was disclosed?

HYPERBOLE. “Everybody” has said nothing of the sort. Why are you ■■■■■■■■ the PARENT cafe and acting surprised and offended that we view this situation from a parent perspective? If opinions which are so contrary to yours upset you so much, why are you visiting a forum you know is designed for PARENTS?

I’m sure there is a forum for other 16 year olds who have a collective life experience superior to ours; why aren’t you pontificating there instead?

@Decimation Read my previous posts in this thread, pornography really messed me up as well as a quite a few people I know, check yourbrainonporn.com if you don’t believe me or the subreddit “nofap”

I actually wasn’t trolling the parent cafe, I found this thread on the front of CC.

That said, Chappa said she is a confused person. This is exactly what floppy said earlier, copy and pasted

“The problem is the girl is a walking stereotype. Family problems. Money issues. Low self-esteem. Cutting. Eating disorders. And, a desperate need for approval which she has temporarily found in the porn industry because she sent a photo to some sleazeball who recognized the marketability of Duke porn star hook. Everything that comes out of her mouth sounds like exactly what she is - a naïve young girl who took 6 months of women’s studies courses. By the way, what she is doing is pretty amateur. Next up, is an internet sex competition show. She’s no Jenna Jamison.”

Ariesathena said

"Can we stop talking about whether her family should pay for Duke or if porn is feminist and just admit that she’s a whack job and horrendous human being? "

Harvest Moon said

“misguided young girl who is quietly screaming to be rescued from the mess she has gotten herself into.”

Montegut said

“I think she’s doing this to shock people and as a cry for help.”

And I don’t think I have more life experience than you do, but do you have more porn industry experience than me. Because I’m assuming neither one of us has stepped in to a porn studio, but am I wrong about that?

I’m not surprised or offended, I didn’t even know this was a parent thread until you mentioned it, and I already apologized for invading the thread as this will be my last post, it was on the front page. But I’m not delusional enough to think that a parent (particularly a mom) would approve of it. My mom wouldn’t for sure, but she is clueless, she thought she was blocking me out of porn by cancelling Cinemax and HBO which I have never even used.

My dad on the other hand asks me what porn sites I recommend he try. And I openly talk about porn with him.

Having that been said, I’m not addicted to porn, On average I watch it 3-4 times a week, I’ve gone several weeks in a row without watching it, never felt any withdrawals, I think porn is to real sex as Television is to real life.

Perhaps people think she’s doing it for attention because she has a website and promotes herself on Twitter. And, attention is what’s selling her videos. So, she obviously needs and wants and likes the attention.

RHS, your comments have not offended me, and in fact I think your perspective has added to the discussion. On a personal note I find it disconcerting that your father would ask you for advice on Porn sites. I think other posters have tried to communicate the downside and I hope you have taken some of the advice to heart. There is a big difference between looking at a Playboy magazine from the 70’s and watching HD gang rape. Please take care not to ruin future relationships for yourself from watching this graphic and violent behavior and presuming it does no harm.

I think Miriam Weeks is really smart, brave, funny and beautiful. She gets a raw deal in the press - but she comes across as a nice girl.

She’s got 3 out of those 4. Unfortunately she’s missing the one she went to college for.

@RHSclassof16 : way to take my words out of context.

Miriam Weeks said that her favourite part of porn is watching the misery in a girl’s face. She has paid good money to sexually stimulate herself to the unhappiness of women who do not have good families and offers of a full tuition scholarship to Vanderbilt.

If it weren’t about sex, this “non-judgmental” crap would go away and we could see what a real sicko she is. Imagine a hyper-privileged person who said that she enjoyed watching videos of the suffering of refugees from war-torn regions. Imagine a MAN who said that he gets off on watching miserable women being sexually abused in porn videos.

Needless to say, I don’t think that Duke should “buy her out” of the porn industry. She had an outstanding offer from a top-flight school and didn’t take it - an objectively unreasonable decision. Thankfully, she’s young and can figure out how to get a good education; perhaps it means going home to U-Dub, but an education is available to her.

I personally know people who have dropped out of expensive, prestigious private schools because they weren’t affordable. They are nice, stable, happy people with fine careers and they all have college degrees.
