Dorms?

What dorm buildings are people picking? I chose South but now that I found out that interims are there, i’m not so sure anymore.

I picked south even if we have to move out, but if u dont like moving out kamine is very similar to south but u dont have to move out-at

I was wondering how you become a marquis scholar and if you can still become one if u weren’t chosen as an incoming freshman. i know i posted this question twice but idk where the first one went haha.

regina286,

Each and every student who applies to Lafayette is considered for our Marquis and Trustee merit scholarships. There are no special forms one must submit. If you were not selected for the scholarship during the admissions process, then do not expect to become one. Keep in mind that the average SAT score for Marquis Scholars in the Class of 2010 was a 1460, and most were in the top 2-3% of their high school classes.

I am sorry if that is not what you wanted to hear, but that’s how it works.

Justin, I read that being a Marquis/Trustee scholar does give you a distinction and it allows you to have access to more academic opportunities. If this is true, then what happens to the international students (they are not considered for any of these merit scholarships) ? Will they be able to take part in the same academic circles as the aforementioned scholars?

Hey maxy,

It is true that the two merit-based scholarships are limited to U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents.

It is also true that Marquis/Trustee scholars gain access to special academic opportunities. Please see the thread “Calling Marquis Scholars, please answer my questions!” on the Lafayette College message boards for more information on the unique opportunities available to scholars.

Since you cannot receive either a Marquis/Trustee scholarship as an international student, you will not have access to most of their events. That is just how it works. However, if you are looking at this issue from a financial perspective, please know that the majority of international students are at Lafayette on full or near-full need-based aid.

Later,
