Downton Abbey - The Movie

I’ve seen them all but may watch the last season again. Excellent trailers!

Looking forward to this!

I’m rounding up the girlfriends to reserve tickets. I noticed that our local theatre has slots to reserve the 12th and 13th also.

Yes, not on Netflix but on Prime. sorry for the misdirection.
I started the re-binge last night. The first time I watched it (on Demand), I had to watch the first show like 3 times just to figure out who was who - those English talk so funny.

I used to watch it with closed captioning.

I’m pretty sure I saw a similar story line in the first season of Upstairs Downstairs, which I enjoyed more than Downton Abbey.

You can watch all of the episodes on pbs.org if you’re a member. I’ve started rewatching.

H & I are going to our PBS station’s movie premiere, complete with tea, hats and other related fun on September 15! It was a bit pricey for tickets but we support our PBS station anyway.

I am on season 4 of my binging, I bought all the DVDs so I could watch it again and again whenever I need a fix of Isobel and Violet to cheer me up. I am using the caption feature and catching more of the subtleties too! I had to fast forward through the sad scenes of Lady Sybil.

I saw the movie last night. I was invited to a preview by a friend even though I had not watched the series. I didn’t have enough time to binge watch, but I read a recap of all the episodes and found a 10 minute youtube which got me all up to speed. The movie was wonderful, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I’m sure if I had the time to watch all the episodes beforehand I would have enjoyed it even more. I hope all you true fans go see it.

I’m on the last season of my binge. I’d forgotten a lot, even some of the characters.

The costumes! To die for.

Can’t wait. A group of us are going on opening night! We got reserved seats at the dinner theater because one of the women is the events coordinator for them!

I’m going to do some binging this weekend!

It’s already in my local art theater.
Down to the last episode. Must say, binging as fast as I did brings out some of the annoying elements. Imo, it’s built for watching over a longer bit of time (if anyone wants that advice.)

I’ll see the movie soon.

Agreed. I started rewatching and remembered how much I disliked Thomas and O’Brian. Then there’s the sad stories. One of the sad stories mirrored my life and made me ugly cry when I first watched it. I’ll just wait for the movie. I almost went to the advanced screening last night, but ds was home sick, so I’ll wait for next week.

I toured Highclere in May. I tried to finagle some clues about the movie from the staff but they were not talking.
Funny how the rooms, particularly the great hall, look larger on TV than in reality.

Joked with my wife today, wondering what kind of movies will be promoted by the trailers before Downton Abbey movie. Theater will be filled by a VERY different demographic than the usual millennial movie-goer.

Saw it today. On the big screen, great, details have more impact. I liked it. Not heavy, not pretentious, kind of sweet, which DA was, when at it’s best.

And for you, @MADad, I noted the previews: Maleficent, Playing with Fire, John Henry (with Ludacris,) Western Stars (Springsteen,) Dark Waters (looks interesting,) and Be Free or Die- about Harriet Tubman (also looks good. I’ll wait for the reviews for the two latter.)

So, a range.

The movie was very enjoyable. Made me smile and laugh. Our theater was packed. I read the movie did well box office wise. Maybe Mr. Fellowes will make a few more DA movies.

Our previews were Dark Waters, Be Free or Die, and It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. None of them looked like something I’ll run out to see.

I haven’t watched the series but was thinking if I liked the movie I could back and watch it from the beginning. Heard good things about it.

FWIW, if you have not watched the series, you may be a bit lost by the movie; they spend zero time bringing newbies up to speed.
