Downton Abbey

VeryHappy – my thoughts exactly about Barrow; just when you think he’s finally going to get his due, he redeems himself in some way. And I agree with you about Daisy being tutored. I’m not really a fan of Sarah Bunting’s character, though.

And wasn’t Violet Crawley up to her usual shenanigans? Even more hilarious – the whole thing with Moseley’s hair! Too funny!!!

Now Thomas doesn’t have anyone to blackmail: Baxter 'fessed up, and Jimmy is gone. I don’t think he’d dare blackmail Mary. OTOH, he might blackmail Carson, threatening to expose Mary’s scandalous behavior with Lord Gillingham. Did you catch the sad little part where someone said to Thomas, people can always settle down, and he said wryly, not everyone can?

I too see Sarah Bunting tutoring Daisy. I see why Tom is attracted to her, though: she is rude in just the way he used to be, and in just the way Sybil used to be.

How did Marigold get so old so quickly?

My latest longshot for Mr. Green’s murder is Lord Gillingham: he found out he’d been employing a rapist, and threw him under the bus.

I thought the same about Barrow and Daisy. I’m not sure what I think about the Sarah Bunting character - time will tell for me. @"Cardinal Fang"‌ it hadn’t occurred to me that Bates wasn’t Mr. Green’s murderer so that’s an interesting thought. On the whole, I really enjoyed last night’s episode. It seems like Mary and Edith are becoming more snippy towards each other again. Mousley’s hair was hysterical! “Are you Latin?” haha Should be a fun season.

I don’t think Bates killed Mr. Green. That’s too obvious. It was someone else. Does Lord Grantham have an alibi?

You probably are right about that. Ooo - what if it was Mrs. Hughes? Or Mary! I’m trying to think who knew what happened to Anna.

I could see Mrs. Hughes doing it. She’s ruthless. So is Mary, but I can’t see Mary caring enough about Anna to want to murder her rapist.

Good line–if Mrs. Hughes did it and Bates is blamed she will step forward. Who went to town that day?

There’s got to be more to Baxter’s story. She needed the money from the jewelry for something that had to be overwhelmingly compelling. I’m guessing support for a child out of wedlock.

I really dislike Miss Bunting. Re-watching the season finale of last year, I noticed some things. The scene in which Violet drives up on Branson and Miss Bunting in the village. At first Miss Bunting had turned Branson’s dinner invitation down. But after Violet mentions that she is going to have dinner at Buckingham Palace, Miss Bunting suddenly changes her mind. Then she wants to see the house again making an unkind remark about Cora’s coat of arms having a dollar sign. Then in last night’s episode she accepts the dinner invitation only to make rude remarks. It doesn’t seem as though she’s interested in Branson. It’s more like she’s casing the joint.

I know she’s there to represent the views of the ‘common folks’ but I’d like to see her killed off; blown up, trying to make her own anarchist-type Molotov cocktail or something.

@TatinG‌ - haha She is very brusque, isn’t she?

I don’t care for her at all, but I really feel for Tom. He’s so torn and has been living “in-between” for such a long time. I’d love to see that settled this season, but not if it means Allen Leech leaving the show. OTOH, I don’t give two hoots for Mary and Gillingham (or Mary and anybody, with the possible execption of George) and I wish Edith would just haul off and slap her sometime. I’d stand up and applaud.

I fear they will re-use an old plot from Season 1 or was it 2? Remember when the heir to Downton who supposedly drowned on the Titanic ‘came back’ with a new face when the house was a hospital in WWI. I expect to see Gregson walk in with a new face any time now. I surely hope they get more creative than that though.

I agree about Gregson not being finished. Maybe he will be smart and handsome. He was interested in Edith wasn’t he?

“How did Marigold get so old so quickly?”

I had the exact same thought.

I thought it was an OK epi - a setting of the stage for the rest of the season but it seems to have foreshadowed a bit too much for my liking.

Gregson is Marigold’s father, oregon101.

Oh–thanks, I was referring to the Titanic cousin.

Once again, Mary tries to test her theory about a fulfilling relationship. In the few minutes her beau is in her room, Edith, the emotional one, sets fire to her room. I can see how Mary grows more impatient with her sister. And marigold is now a toddler? Too weird.

I was expecting Baxter to tell us which gravely ill family member had already sold the jewels to pay for medicine: the mother with consumption, the dying sister, who? I’m positive Baxter has a good explanation for the theft.

Yes, Mr. Gregson remains a very loose end. I’m eager to find out what his story is and what’s become of him.

When Ms. Bunting arrived for dinner, you could practically see their lips curl. LOL. Here is a perfectly fine educated young lady but…gasp…she’s a commoner. But then she turns around and acts pretty common after all. Interesting segment. The whold class thing just boggles my mind.
