Downton Abbey

Mrs. Hughes told Anna to just let it go with a knowing look. But Anna has the goods on Mary and her dalliance so maybe she will counsel Mary (while doing up her buttons) to go easy on Edith because there, but for the grace of God, Anna and her little helper, goes Mary also.

In the discussion in the tearoom, didn’t Cora propose that Edith adopt her own baby?

yep

Why are Lord Merton’s sons still unmarried? They’re horrible people, but the elder is going to be a horrible Lord with a big estate. Plus they’re good-looking, and there was a dearth of men.

And you all thought Sarah Bunting was a bad dinner guest!

At some point, you start to wonder why the people at Downton keep hosting formal dinners!

What else is thee to do?

‘there’

Isn’t it bizarre that every single time Rose’s boyfriend Atticus has been to Downton he has witnessed some sort of highly personal family argument/ meltdown? It’s really a testament to his devotion to Rose that he keeps coming back and even brought his parents. The Grantham’s certainly aren’t easily embarrassed. This week, Mabel Lane Fox got to watch, too. I really hope we haven’t seen the last of her; I think she’s awesome.

Remind me her gig. Does she have money? I can’t figure out why Tony threw her off to begin with.

Tony threw her off because Mary was so hot.

And rich.

I think she was billed as a very eligible (eg rich) bachelorette when first brought up - never quite understand why anyone would put up with Mary - her voice is just so haughty/vain

Sorry if this has been noted before…
Lady Rose is the new Cinderella.
Daisy is cast as a stepsister.

Looks like the Dowager and Isobel are also starring in a movie called “the second best exotic marigold hotel”.

Looking forward to the second ‘marigold’ movie. They were also in the first one and it was delightful.

Was happy to see that what I suspected about Violet’s reason for being upset about Isabel’s plan to marry Lord Merton was right.

They were also together in the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2012) - the one coming out is a sequel with some of the same cast/characters.

And I looked it up - Mary referred to Mabel Lane Fox as “the greatest heiress of the season” - she was “The Honourable Mabel Lane Fox is the only daughter of the late Lord Osweston”

Miller514, until I read further down in the thread, I thought you had posted a joke, about the way that the two characters play off each other, with reference to the earlier movie. I didn’t realize there was actually a second movie coming out!

I liked the first Marigold Hotel movie (is that what they named Edith’s daughter after?!) but I’ve never been a fan of sequels. Too disappointing.

There’s an old saying that two people can keep a secret if one of the is dead. So Edith’s “secret” will soon be out.
