Downton Abbey

Which Downton Abbey character are you? [MASTERPIECE Downton Abbey Personality Quiz | WETA](http://www.weta.org/tv/picks/downtonabbey/quiz)

I can’t watch DA tonight. Horrors! Can I see the complete episode at some later time? Anyone have a link?

I got the Dowager Countess, only I don’t wear hats unless it is cold.

So did I, ek. Ditto about hats, and sometimes not even then.

limabeans, you can watch episodes here: [Masterpiece | Watch | PBS](http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/masterpiece/watch/index.html)

I’m the Dowager Countess as well! My H is Lord Grantham.

From the same PBS WETA web site, here is an interesting and informative analysis of DA by a history professor:
[Real Life History of Downton Abbey | WETA](http://www.weta.org/tv/picks/downtonabbey/history#first_impressions)

Thanks for linkies, bookiemom and emeraldkity. In honor of the Downton hats, which I adore, I just put on a cloche hat I happen to have, to wear while I’m surfing the net. No, I alas am not wearing the outfit to match, just a henley and some pants, but I feel the cloche hat is the appropriate attire for reading about Downton. I may wear it tonight while I’m watching.

I second bookiemom’s recommendation of the history link. I do wonder how Anna, the other housemaid of the week and especially Daisy always manage to be so clean and neat. Those housemaids are lighting the fires in the fireplaces and carrying heavy trays up and down stairs. Daisy is cooking on a wood stove. If I were doing that I’d be grubby.

How many laundresses would Downton have? How often would Anna’s uniforms be laundered? Did she have to iron them herself?

I’m Matthew. Not sure why, though. Oddly, when I tried again as my anti-person, picking every answer I liked least, I was still Matthew.

Mr. Fang is Bates.

I’m Lady Sybil.

Another Lady Sybil here. I wish I had a hat to wear.

Oddly, all through the show Lady Sybil has reminded me (by her looks) of my beautiful niece.

I’m Lord Grantham. H is Matthew Crawley.

Downton Abbey is one of my new favorite shows! I started it about a week ago, and then I couldn’t stop until I’d seen it all! I’m a huge Matthew/Mary fan, and I love the sets and costumes. Got Lady Sybil on the personality quiz : )

Speaking of amazing TV shows, have any of you seen Sherlock? It airs on Masterpiece in America, and I wouldn’t hesitate to say it’s the best show on television right now. (Doctor Who’s still my favorite show, but the cinematography/acting/writing on Sherlock are unbearably excellent!) I highly suggest giving it a go!

Didn’t take the quiz, but I’d have to say I’m Jane. Maybe I identified with her desire to get her son into a good school :)

Has anyone noticed what I will call “the Downton effect”? From Cardinal Fang:

I myself (with 2 hours to kill before the next and final episode of Season II) find a strange urge to begin ironing. A task I undertake every decade or so.

Or write a letter (but even my 80 year old mother would say “you just emailed me.”)

I thought my husband was immune, but tonight, before dinner, he said “Should we have some red wine with dinner?” As soon as I said yes, he said: “I thought I’d decant it.”

I’m Matthew Crawley.

That’s me modern and sensible. :)

Well, that was just delicious!

Lady Violet’s “Do you promise?” to Sir Richard was my favorite line of the night.

2vu… i agree…laughed out loud! loved the whole episode!

Really enjoyed it. Can’t wait until …next January??

Well, this is funny… I finished series 1 & 2 and the Christmas special today. Came onto CC to read the thread, and got lost in the discussion of the Canadian and Patrick story. So I looked up series 2 on Wikipedia, and discovered I somehow overlooked episode 6! So I had another episode to go back and watch today! I was so excited. And it definitely made a few things make more sense that I thought had been overlooked.

Great episode- finally!
With so many loose ends tied up, what intrigue will season 3 bring?

Wow, if Mary isn’t exiled to theUS , what will be the new thread?
