I think we’ll find out Henry has money in some Fashion. He just wants to make sure Mary loves him for himself.
Henry was too emotional, weak, and immature. Why did he force Mary to make decision on the day of the accident? Mary needed a stronger man with life experience. I think letting Henry and Mary become a couple is an easy way out plot for a long story of twists and turns of a troubled woman.
Oh, I just love Mrs. Patmore. Reminds me of my English born grandmother. A little twinkle in her eye and devil in her thoughts to keep her young at heart.
…and what did she say to Daisy? That she would be there for her always or something like that?
Yep, I just adore her
I think it would be sad for Henry to end up with Mary. She would suck the fun right out of his life…
Well, I was right on a few counts anyway.
Still not sorry for Barrows but he is being ostracized in a big way. I think pig butler would at least say “Thank you” along the way and give a tad of credit to Barrows for trying to help him.
Guess the one line from Patmore about love from a father and how she’d be around for Daisy wrapped up that plot line.
They were all hunky dory after that
Violet “the nutcracker”–gotta love her. She leaves because she’s mad, gets her son a dog (although he could have gotten his own–I would think Cora should have thought of this EONS ago) , watches out for Isobel as a friend despite their huge.differences. She’s smart and wise and it’s always “family first” even when she’s mad.
And “I think a month among the French should be enough.” is my favorite line.
Well, there was the car accident we were all waiting for and knew would happen. That was a given. We just didn’t guess who. Glad it was somebody outside the inner circle. But shoulda known it would be someone we don’t know or care about.
Mary really is a smart cookie. She said WAIT for any decisions about anything immediately following the accident… Emotions were too high. Great advice but she got pushed and didn’t follow her own good advice. She’ll settle back and focus.
She and Carson’ll have a drink or two–Tom will show up for a couple more and by the very wee hours of the morn a new philosophy of life will be in place. And then Anna will come in and say “don’t marry that guy. Mr Bates and I have been together through murder trials and I know stuff about relationships”–Arghh. Mary will say “Give me a break.”
Edith–“Give me a kiss”–she had to ask? Okay, it’s a soap. Didn’t look like a kiss that comes with a kid attached. Not
an Edith fan so maybe it was just me.
Those of you on Team Mary, still feeling the love? What a selfish, bitter witch.
Just when I think I can’t love Tom Branson any more than I do, I find out I can. And Robert is coming up trumps tonight as well.
LOVE Tom. And happy for Mosely. And nice to see Robert with a little backbone and concern for others.
Mrs. Patmore was so cute getting teary eyed.
That scene between Tom and Mary - whoaa, that was the perfect satisfaction we needed after Mary’s evil trick.
Oh, Granny, you do surprise me.
Yes, you surprise us all, Violet.
THAT was a small, hasty wedding?
Spratt!
So, soooo glad Mary finally got what was coming to her! Selfish, bullying (w)itch inded! And how sorry is she, really? Even when Violet was talking to her and trying to make her see how badly she’d screwed up, she asked her to find her a duke so she could put Edith in her place. Unbelievable!
What struck me was the first scene between Mary and Edith after Edith returns and Mary says, “You know I’m sorry”, in a very challenging way. As if all the work of remorse was done on her part! “Now get over it, sister!”
I loved the emotional scenes with Tom and Mary, and later with Mary and Violet. It’s strange that there was no similar scene with her actual parents! Artistic license I guess… Michelle Dockery is a great actress for all I dislike her character.
So this is the first time I really hated Mary. Yet she redeemed herself at the end of the hour.
And we knew we were being set up for something concerning Barrows. Suicide attempt not a surprise. Where will his character go?
Do you think Edith will get back together with her man? ( Forgot his name)
^^^But Edith knows her too well as she replied something to the effect of you’re being nice to me know because you are happy now and that’ll last for a little while. Edith hasn’t acted perfectly in the past but at least she gets “it” and is cognizant of her relationship with her sister and its shortcomings. Mary seems clueless about her behavior, how it affects others, and what makes her tick.
Not sure how Mary redeemed herself? Not in my book.
What about Spratt!!! That was a surprise!!!
I can’t wait until Violet finds out! That might be the real secret!
Mary’s clueless because she has no self-awareness or emotional intelligence whatsoever. She’s always been in a superior social position to most of those around her see she never had to develop any.
My mind is playing tricks. I just want to see a trailer for the last episode; but i’m afraid to search for one as i know it would be all too easy to see how it ends. Search or not search??!
edith: she knew she should have told him. she blew it. I am hoping her mr. gregson shows up in the last episode. wild thought there! the newspaper will surely keep her busy but i dont think there’s much romance left for her. She looked very pretty tonight in her fine gown.
