Dozens killed in Nice as truck mows people over at Bastille Day celebration

They can always move back to Tunisia or Algeria if they are not happy in France.

^^ Funny how that response is pretty much automatic whenever someone points out some issues with treatment of immigrants.

France and Europe is not like America or Canada which are countries built on immigration. It is sad that some people support the destruction of indigenous cultures by supporting open borders.

Tell that to the Natives here.

25% of children in France are of Muslim origin. As that trend continues, the native French will find themselves in the same position that the Iroquois and other Native Americans find themselves in.

Xinhead makes a fair point. The truck driver attacker was a Tunisian & French dual national. If he hated France, he could have gone to Tunisia.

NovaDadd99 humans have migrated and immigrated since we have been on planet earth. they move to the place that is safest, prosperous best…etc… the American Indians arrived in north America several thousand years before the nina the pinta and the santa maria came but the waves of immigrants who have come to America have not come for Cherokee or pueblo technology, culture etc…

likewise the immigrants to france are escaping a society/culture stuck in the dark ages…but when they arrive they choose not to join…modern Europe they seem to want to keep their ways. Europe had a renaissance and from that after 100x of years slowly and painfully a modern enlightened way of life evolved . that is what is needed in middle east and areas like Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc…(countries like turkey and iran at one time were advancing quickly but have been sucked down the rabbit hole…iran first and now turkey…it is not a good situation)
a renaissance will not be happening anytime soon. so I think the point is that zinhead is making is valid and scary. Europe may very will be sucked down the rabbit hole too and that could be in our lifetimes!

Europe needs to ask itself some hard questions, such as why allow more people in who do not share their culture or values.

As much as I love Europe, and France especially, the culture perplexes me sometimes.

PS: I know that we Americans perplex them too! Praying for France - such a wonderful country in many ways.

A father and son from Texas are among the dead:

@TatinG It is very simple. If the answer to any of the following questions is a “yes” then the person is inherently incompatible with values of civilized society. “should apostasy be treated as a crime?”, “should homosexuality be punishable by death?”, “should female genital be mutilated without consent?”, …

How is asking these questions any different from asking a potential immigrant if he/she she is a member of communist party or believe in communism?

Countries have wide latitude as to whether or not to admit migrants.

Post #54: “How is asking these questions any different from asking a potential immigrant if he/she she is a member of communist party or believe in communism?”

When I immigrated to the US, I was asked these questions. What’s wrong with that?

My great-Grandmother was asked at Ellis Island if she was a Polygamist or an Anarchist. They can ask if they want.

France prides itself on secularism and has banned religious dress and symbols from public school, correct? Maybe this is making them more of a target. I don’t know.

France is a target because of its very direct intervention against ISIS in North Africa (Mali, Libya, etc.) They are putting a lot of hurt on ISIS in those areas. They are also conducting air operations over Syria alongside US and allied forces.

The Daily Mail UK has lots of photos (if you have the stomach to look). They are grisly.

@greenwitch "France prides itself on secularism and has banned religious dress and symbols from public school, correct? Maybe this is making them more of a target. I don’t know. "

I think so, unfortunately. In the past 30 years, France has become anti-religion (any religion) and culturally views believers as ‘not so smart’ to put it kindly. That, plus the rampant favoritism for white French people in hiring practices creates a toxic environment for the 25% Muslim population.

France was very slow in letting go of their colonies.

This is the history of the problem- no clue what the solution is. So sad for the French people.

This guy had had a truck driving job (but lost it recently for sleeping on the job).

The French revolution and the esblishment of the republic was also based on a secular government free from the influence of religion, especially the Catholic church which played such a central role in the Bourbon monarchy. The French state does not allow religious symbols of any religion (no crosses, no Yarmulkes (I believe) and no Muslim head covering for females in state schools. I have no problem with such a rule since it treats all religions the same.
