Drama

Is there a lot of drama and bullies at boarding school…? Im not looking for that at a school. I dont want to be surrounded by that can anyone tell me more about this situation in boarding schools.

I don’t go to a boarding school, but I’m thinking of applying as a sophomore repeat. From what, I observed it’s no more than day schools anywhere else. Especially since, at top boarding schools, the students are way to focused and concerned with academics to really purposely start dram. But I guess this would all depend on which boarding school you are going to.

It’s high school; there’s drama. Sorry, there’s no escape from adolescence. The good news is that some kids mature more quickly than others and leave the drama behind quickly (as you seem to be ready to do). There will certainly be some kids like that at almost all the schools regularly referred to on this board. However, not all kids, even at the top schools, will be rid of the drama (heck, plenty of adults are still addicted to it). There will be those kids who need to feel popular and “elite” even within the school, and they’ll use the same old exclusionary tactics to secure their “special” place. But the faculty are much more keyed in to the dynamic at BS, and actually have the time to address it with you and redirect you toward the activities and groups where the drama’s not so predominant. So please be careful–don’t overromanticize boarding school–it’s still high school–but it’s school with a very freewheeling and diverse community.
