Any other suggestions gratefully appreciated. I’m a total pear with fairly good arms, collarbones, something of a waist, but a lot too much of hips, thighs and calves. So needs to be flaring from waist, and below the knees.

I think it’s lovely. Beautiful color that will catch the mood of the setting, outside, winter and not formal.

The color is so important because of the pictures that go on for year thereafter. I wore the most beautiful, perfect light buttercream yellow dress for my brother’s wedding and now looking at the pictures, it’s just a washed out beige as the flash and the sunlight outside just could not capture that color. Was just looking at the photos last week when my brother came to visit.

I think your dress choice will hold up through the photography. I really do like it, Garland. I love your daughter’s choice too. Do pick up some shawls to wear, in case it does get chilly.

Your D’s dress she chose is cute. As the MOB, your dress should be a bit more special than the guests. The CWCreek dress does not seem special enough for your role in this wedding. If you are able to pay just a bit more to get a better dress, that is what I’d suggest. Go to the Nordstrom website and look at their MOB selection…did you see anything at David’s Bridal for yourself? Also, try TJformals dot com or a website called New York dresses dot com, or something like that. Do you have a Dillard’s near you? They usually carry a nice selection at a good price point. You may want to try Lord and Taylor or Macy’s or Talbots…you have plenty of time, but my vote would be for you to find something a bit more special.

Okay, just read post #4 and looked at the dress again. It is nice…I personally would opt for something a bit dressier, but it is a pretty dress…maybe the suggestion of shawls or a short sequined jacket could work…I guess I’d probably look around some more just to be sure that’s the one!

I really like both of the dresses. Back in the day, when I wore more dresses, I used to buy a lot from Coldwater Creek. I seem to remember that CC dresses run longer than I expected.

You might want to ask the actually length. Although it’s no big deal, as you have plenty of time if it needs to be shortened.

Garland, I pulled up Nordstrom mother of the bride dresses and picked out a few that I thought you might be interested in seeing. Perhaps someone here could tell you more about the typical fit of a given brand if there’s one you like.

Ohhh, I love the first dress Deborah T! Really cute for that beachy bohemian vibe.

Hate to say but I agree with chocolatechipcookie. I think your dress should be more special and you will see yourself in pictures lol! I think it’s hard because there is so much money being spent but although the CWC dress is nice, I think you should be a little more “special”.

I love that CWC dress! I think it would be perfect. If you want to dress it up, add a short jacket, some sparkly earrings, bracelet, necklace, dressy sandals.

Deb T–thanks for the suggestions! I think the last two might be too short for me (though I had looked at the last one already and considered it). The first two are lovely; definitely in the mix now. Thanks!

Good job, Deborah T! How do you do that?! I haven’t learned how to add websites or specific styles to my posts.

Garland, I LOVE the second dress from Nordstrom! What a gorgeous color and a bit more dressy & unique! You can even hem it slightly if needed. That one is awesome!

Oldfort; that’s lovely. It might be a bit too short and fitted on the bottom half for me; (I say pear, but bowling pin is probably a better metaphor for my shape.)

I like the Coldwater Creek dress the best. Seems to fit the mood and it’s lovely colors. My dear friend bought an absolutely beautiful dressy shawl for her D’s wedding just “in case.” i can imagine all different kinds of shoes and jewelry that would compliment the CWC dress and turn it into something very special. I also think it would compliment the spirit of your D’s dress better than the solid color structured ones. The handkerchief dress is nice, but I’m not fond of handkerchief hemlines - but that is personal.

I like the Coldwater Creek dress but I would try it out as soon as possible. Unfortunately, there are no reviews yet. I have noticed in many reviews on their products customers complain about products being inconsistent. Comments like I love these capris last year but this year the material is lighter and the fit is not the same. Also love the pricey Komarov. The idea of a blue sleeveless print is very appealing with your description of the wedding.
The right shoes might be tricky particularly with the location

Thanks, EB. I think, though, that that might look fancier than the bride’s dress. I’m leaning away from typical MOB because it’s a tad less formal than the norm. I feel that if D’s dress is tea length, mine shouldn’t be longer. (But I’m trying to hit the exact note without being sure what it is, so all reactions are extremely helpful,!)

Garland this is very exciting! Do you have a pix of the bridesmaid dresses? I looked on the Nordstrom’s site and according to them the Coldwater dress is the perfect shape for your body. I really like the dress but might like to see it in a solid. If you love the dress and feel wonderful in it then order it before they sell out. This way you can keep looking without so much stress. I also believe you should get a gorgeous wrap and as you are looking for dresses, don’t forget about the wind:p
