Never have heard of this catalog/website before, but woman sitting next to me on train this morning was looking at the catalog and raved about it. There are some nice looking casual dresses for those looking for something like that:

Travel, these are very different than the dress Gourmetmom posted, and I’m not sure if I’m on the right page for you style-wise. Also, are these too long for what you’re needing?

M3girls–did you end up buying the post 58 dress? Because it’s out of size 14 now! LOL. Guess that’s off my list! (I’m probably going with one of the earlier page ones, anyway, but it’s funny how the size just disappeared!)

DeborahT- Love these ideas. This direction is appealing and the lengths may well work. I want to be able to move comfortably and some of these styles have that quality. Too much beading and things could get cumbersome for me. That Komarov dress is quite interesting with the jacket. I work out, but pushing 60 here and don’t quite have Michelle Obama’s upper arms. I appreciate your efforts. Just saw that Pisarro in gunmetal. I may try it. Stunning.

Garland- many apologies here. I got involved reading the end of this thread and thought I was on dressing young when I posted my question. I know what you mean about things disappearing. I lost something completely in 2 size options on the Nordie’s site this morning- in about 5 minutes. Your MOB dress search is particularly fun given the wedding location.

Thanks- I am enjoying it also. There are a lot of experts here who, unlike me, seem to know where to start. Love clothes, but rarely need dressy dresses.

I would not do a maxi if the bride is in a cocktail length dress. Even though I’m sure some guests will be wearing them and they would be totally appropriate, I think it would look odd for you as the MOB in the photos. Also, I would stay far away from prints, as they tend to look very dated and fussy in pictures… it’s all about the pictures!

I didn’t order it, still wondering about the color – which is beautiful but everyone else will be in sort of dusty shades.

But thank you so much for the Dillards link, my-3-sons. I was liking a number of ones there. This one could be a contender <a href=“Access Denied”>Access Denied;

It is funny how quickly things disappear online sometimes. My D ran into that with several wedding dresses she liked.

The color and lace are perfect for this wedding and make it a little less severe, but it’s “official” looking enough for me not to feel weird officiating a wedding in it.

^^Thanks so much, CountingDown. I think the one in which you have an interest is lovely!
And I found several possibilities fpr myself at the third link. Have to run them by D.

I haven’t been on cc for a few days…I’m anxious to hear if you ordered any dresses to try on at home!

Also, I have no idea how to post website dress pictures onto this thread…can someone teach me please? Thanks!

I agree with most of the posters here, I think a bright neutral would be the way to go, especially for pictures. The emerald green and amethyst colors were just beautiful and would photogragh so well…

Hope we got you “hooked” into looking for alternative possibilities…it’s fun and a bit nerve wracking too to look for just the right dress! Good luck-let us know what you end up with! :)

I haven’t posted on CC for ages, but have loved reading this thread!
Next summer, I will be the MOG at a wedding in a fashionable Russian city. I do not yet know the details, such as time of day. I have been told that Russian weddings are not as elaborate as American weddings and that anyone can wear what they choose-- no need to match.

I am thinking about the need to have the perfect dress that will pack and travel well. I am fair and need a bit of color. Weather can be chilly, I will need a wrap or jacket.
As a “sturdy gal/artsy cousin” type of person, to borrow an archetype from Alumother, I need to feel comfortable, without being frumpy. Really, ballet flats or Keen water sandals worn with pearls would be fine with me. lol

Has anyone noticed the trend for lace dresses? They may be so out of date in Europe.
They may be so “not right” for MOG, but where I live there is not much fashion, so I feel pretty clueless.
