I’ve seen some intentionally mismatched socks sold somewhere… don’t remember the brand but had a good laugh.
My daughter never wore paired socks. I’d just throw all her socks in a box, unpaired, in a box if I did the laundry and she’d pull two random socks to wear. I’m not sure if she still does but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.
I’m color blind. DH has grey, dark blue, dark green and some black socks. He’s been ahead of the style curve for years…wearing sock pairs I ‘matched’. Now I just leave them all in the laundry basket and he sorts them himself.
On another note…this trend solves the what to do with the collection of ‘socks without partners’ that has assembled in one of the laundry room drawers. They will all be assigned a random mate and live happily on my feet going forward.
My SIL is also color blind. He usually wears patterned socks to avoid a mismatch. Otherwise my D helps with the pairing.
Those outfit pic with socks and skirts/Mary Janes are jarringly different from the usual style - yet cute! I think I might actually wear the third outfit if had the appropriate destination LOL
I’m known for wearing mismatched shoes. The brand Camper has a whole line “Twins” that are designed to not be exactly alike. Some differences are more subtle than others.
I have a pair of flats that look mismatched, but they are actually matched. Kinda like these:
We have a wedding in a couple of weeks, it will be on the beach but reception inside. Is this black and white striped dress appropriate for a wedding? I tried on some of my other dresses and I think they are starting to look dated. Invite says traditional cocktail attire, short or long dresses for women.
I think you’ll always get a variety of opinions here.
I don’t think this dress is INAPPROPRIATE but I guess I would say if I had an alternate choice I would consider it. I don’t think it falls solidly into “beach wedding” or inside reception….but its fine and we often say, no one is really remembering what the guests wore! Something about the black and white - maybe because it’s the Halloween season, speaks a little costume like to me.
But that’s maybe overthinking it!
I agree with @abasket . It’s fine, but what is throwing me off is the satin fabric for a beach wedding.
Or maybe it’s the orange-yellow-emoji disguise!
I personally love that black and white striped dress!
Saw pix from a high-end beach wedding recently and seemed like folks wore ‘regular’ wedding guest clothes (although all guys had tan/light suits).
The dress looks amazing on you! It might depend on the venue. If the venue is more formal, like a fancy hotel ballroom, I’d wear it. If it less formal and more beach-y, I’d try something different. I’ve seen people wear all sorts of beaded dresses at beachfront weddings at a Four Seasons (unfortunately, we were not invited, just eating at a restaurant overlooking the place).
It’s a lovely dress & looks great on you. Somehow beach wedding always means floral and or blues and greens to me. I’m sure whatever you decide will be just fine.
Thanks everyone. I am open to examples of dresses that might be more in style for a wedding of this type (Jersey shore).
My niece wore this dress at my daughter’s wedding and it is such a pretty dress. Could definitely look good with a shrug
I think this is a pretty dress for fall beach wedding. Expensive.

And just because I like this dress, may not appeal to anyone else
I’m sure there is more
At my daughter’s wedding this summer, maxi dresses were very popular
Her husband went to Rutgers so lots of people from New Jersey
What about something like this?

Some ideas of dresses for guests attending beach weddings. These are for less formal settings.
