I agree with others - the dress looks great on you but it wouldn’t be my first choice for a beach wedding (even with an inside reception).

That is what is messing me up! It could be 67 and sunny or it could be 50 and feel freezing!
I love that green Lilly dress, but more than I want to spend for this event. The Banana REpublic dress is intriguing. I also have something coming from Amazon (don’t laugh, I wore an amazon dress to the last 2 formal weddings we went to and got a ton of compliments, plus another woman had the same dress in a different color!)
I am struggling with “beachy” but “fall”!

Nothing wrong with Amazon in my book if it’s right for the occasion! I have seen many dresses from Dillards on Amazon!
Not sure how fast this would shop but my daughter wore this dress last week to an early fall wedding in a hot location - something like this could work…it’s easy to wear and the price is right!
Everyone is different but myself I’m not spending a lot on a dress to be “just a guest”

Except for my MOB dress, I buy my Lilly Pulitzer either on Poshmark, on Facebook buy and sell boards or at their end of season sales. Once I know my size and have time, I don’t pay very much.
For my daughter’s destination wedding, other than the MOB dress, my wardrobe for the week was bought that way for very little.
To be honest, I wasn’t wild about the MOB dress but at some point I needed to be done. The dress was cotton and light. The rest of guests were dressier than me. It was fine.

I suspect based on no evidence that guests will be dressed more for the indoors reception than the outdoors beach wedding; really two different vibes. Mid-October would be a different feel than summer or destination resort. But I don’t know what they wear down the shore!

OP, how tall are you and is there a particular style you enjoy wearing or will not wear?
For instance the dress you showed is a fit and flare. Are you partial to those? Do you want a shorter dress, knee length? Do you like midis and maxis?
I won’t wear a slip dress, or something without a defined waist. Will you? Having some parameters is helpful!

I am tall, that is why the dress @HImom suggested probably won’t work. I am not as fond of my knees as I used to be LOL.
I like fit and flare but I am not sure it is still in style. The other dress in my closet is more of a sheath with sleeve styles and when I tried it on it looked dated to me, hence my last minute panic.
I am not busty, so spaghetti straps and deep V necks don’t really look good. Otherwise I am pretty slim, nothing I am trying to camouflage except the knees

You know yourself best in this regard. I am quite sure I’d be cold on the beach with ocean wind.
Something sleeveless/short sleeves with a wrap would cover that and take off the wrap in the reception, IMO.

Ladies, I think I’ve made a decision. This Amazon dress fits like a dream and I can jazz it up with jewelry. It feels more in style than my 5-6 year old dresses in the closet.

That dress is very pretty. I wore a similar style for my nieces wedding last September. Wore it again for one of my daughter’s celebrations. I felt great in it. I hope you have the same experience!

I liked that they come in lengths, good for this short person. They were surprisingly nice. Wore them yesterday with a dressier wrap sweatshirt and felt comfortable, casual but not sloppy. A way to try out a trend without a big commitment.
I bought the taupe and ordered another color, light gray.

I really wish all clothes makers would make pants in 3 different lengths! Petite, average, tall. Just ordered a beautiful pair of pants that sadly can’t be easily hemmed because they are designed to flair out at the bottom. So back they go!
