Dressing Young (2024)

I like #4 but all are amazing and I wish I looked that good in my dresses!

You really do look great in all of them. #1 is my least favorite, and I really don’t like those sleeves (for me). I LOVE the red one on you (didn’t you wear a red dress to some other fancy event?), but if red is not the best to wear to weddings, I’d go with #3. #4 is fine also, but LOTS of people will probably be wearing black.

I love all those dresses! I do love #1 especially for the sleeves! I understand they may be a pain when eating etc but I think they LOOK fabulous! You can’t go wrong in any of the dresses. Does one just make you feel like “Oh yeah, this one is it!”?

If you wear #1 or #4 your jewelry choices will be more limited to not compete with the dress. So if you have some piece or necklace that you are dying to wear, then maybe choose #2 or 3.

Enjoy!!

I’d choose #4 with #3 as the runner up (love the color!)

I don’t love the sleeves on #1, but that’s me.

You look fab in all of them!

Thanks, all! I appreciate everyone’s input.

I wore red (twice) to our son’s graduation in June. But, not this dress. I struggle with both red and black for weddings. Though, I honestly think if the black were a tad shorter (it is a midi dress, but I think it is at an awkward length on me as it is), I would wear that one. No time to get it hemmed, however.

I have worn #1 to a wedding before, but this is a different circle of friends. That neckline is not the best for me (‘cause my girls hang low). I do love the fabric and the sleeves, but this wedding does have a sit down dinner, so the sleeves might be challenging. #1 and #4 are the dressiest.

My husband likes #3 the best. I do have some sparkly silver shoes and bag that could dress it up. It is rather plain. I was a bit worried it was too springy of a color, but a friend reminded me that there are mums that color!

I wish I knew if there were going to be dancing. #4 would definitely be the hardest for that.

Fancy wedding of two gay guys? My bet is on great dancing music and a floor to do it on.

I’m with your husband! That dress is beautiful and will be easy to jazz up with sparkly accessories and shoes.

The length was what I liked on #4. But agree that it would be hard to dance in.

I’d wear #3 if that what your husband likes best. And silver accessories will bling it up.

A gay wedding I think will be glitzy, fun and lots of dancing!

Seriously though you look great in all of them!

I’ve worn red to several weddings. There were other attendees also wearing red dresses. (I did double-check with mom of the bride who said it was fine). The burgundy is not as bright a red and would look awesome with some nice accessories and looks very comfortable to wear and dance in. The fact that your H likes it best is another bonus!

3 would be beautiful & easy to accessorize

Now that I’ve brightened my screen, I see that 3 isn’t even red. It’s a lovely shade of fuchsia. If wear that and have your H know you’re looking amazing. I admit I’m biased—when I’m undecided I let my H vote on my final choices and we choose one we both like.

Oh, I too give my husband voting and veto power on dresses. Really, he’s likely the only person paying much attention to what I’m wearing.

Your husband pays attention? Unless I was naked or incredibly inappropriately dressed, mine would have no idea. I always wonder if I disappeared, if he could describe what I had on :joy:

Glad to hear that some husband’s do. It was difficult picking out a MOB dress because he was clueless

I don’t give my husband veto power. He will sometimes comment but I’d ask a few friends or my daughter for an opinion before I’d ask my husband.
I’m invited to a wedding mid November. They have provided any details on dress. I go back and forth between email the MOB and just wearing something nice but not overly fancy.

Interesting discussion on voting by spouse on outfits. It’s funny - I have such strong preferences and ideas that it never occurs to me to ask my husband’s opinion, LOL.

I did coordinate the colors of he, our daughter, and me at a recent wedding. That might have been a bit much :joy:

My vote is for #3. Long waisted gals need to stay away from crew necks, it just makes everything too long towards our belly buttons. Not balanced.

I like the neckline of #4, but the dress is too long. #3 has all the right detail and fun color.
