Ahhh a removable strap! That makes sense!
I’ve lost quite a bit of weight in the past several months, which means I’m struggling to find clothes that fit. I have an out of town event in a few weeks, and only had a couple of pairs of blue jeans and one pair of black jeans that currently fit me. The event is not dressy and the black jeans would work, but not sure about the blue jeans, so I went shopping this past weekend.
I also wear a petite size, so that limits what is available. The black jeans were purchased at Goodwill, but since the label is Gloria Vanderbilt I knew Kohl’s carries that brand. I was able to find the same pants in the same size in a Khaki color. They are size 12P.
Since the event is somewhere warm I also wanted to find some white pants/jeans. I found some that fit perfectly at Nordstroms, brand is Wit & Wisdom. The size? 8P!
I find it pretty interesting that there’s such a discrepancy in size. I also have a pair of pants in a dark maroon color from Talbots and they’re size 10P, but they’re a bit loose and too wintry for this event.
I also ordered a bathing suit online from Lands’ End - can’t wait to see if that fits! I got the measuring tape out, and based on the various measurements they suggested size 14P, so that’s what I ordered.
I’ve recently ordered from 2 places I never tried before. I had a hard time finding bathing suits, so I ordered one from Garnet Hill. I really like it.
I have had a hard time finding shorts for women with a 7 inch inseam. I ordered a couple from amazon last year, but they weren’t great. This year I placed an order from Title Nine. I also ordered and wound up keeping a tee and 2 tank tops from Title Nine. The stuff wasn’t cheap, so hopefully it holds up well. They also have some longer shorts I may consider, but I’ve spent enough lately.
@1214mom , not sure what kind of shorts you are looking for but I recently bought 2 pair ( denim and white), from Evereve. The brand is Cut from the Cloth. They have a longer inseam because at this point “ short shorts “ don’t work for me.
Thanks - That brand sounds familiar to me. Maybe I have some of their jeans.
If the name is spelled as KUT from the Kloth, it is a brand carried by Nordstrom.
Anyone bought a simple white t shirt recently. Brands have changed so much in quality that brands that used to be good aren’t anymore. Looking for something not super fitted, 100% cotton preferably, a shirt I dont need to wear another shirt under.
@BunsenBurner -you are correct about the spelling.
@mom60 -not sure if it’s 100% cotton, but I like the Marcy T shirt by Mott & Bow. It comes in both V neck and crew neck.
YES - those are ones I have. I knew it sounded familiar but “not quite right”
I’ve lost over 55 lbs in the past year and I feel your pain! When I was really losing, I bought 3 pairs of GV jeans from Costco - inexpensive and fairly heavyweight. The ones I ended up wearing were a size 10. No way was I a size 10, they just run really large.
Wirecutter recently reviewed white tees. I wasn’t in the market and noted their top rated brand was one I hadn’t heard of, but if you have access to NYT, that could perhaps give you some direction.
I like Velvet’s slub tees, carbon to cobalt’s v neck, and james perse for wear alone white tee. (These tend to show up at Bloomingdale’s outlet.) With that said, I don’t have much of a chest and my back is quite broad, so I’m always struggling with fit!
Ty, @abasket!
The Mott and Bow Tee I recommend is mentioned in the wire cutter article.
It’s not 100% cotton which is my preference. I am going to look at the article and see if there a few I want to order. My present favorite is an $8.00 crew neck from Target. The sleeves are more a cap sleeve and I have to size up but I like the fit. The problem with the Target T is it doesn’t last long. After only a few months of wear it already looks tired.
@FallGirl did you get the crew neck or the v neck? How the sizing? I usually go up at size in tshirts because I don’t like them tight.
I see that they come in packs of 3 which is intriguing
I also don’t like my t shirts tight. I buy the Target T in a large and most tops I’m a medium. My concern with that brand is the reviews on returns tend to be negative.
They come in single or packs of 3 and I buy my usual size. I get the crew neck because that works better with my face shape.
Three Dots used to make quality tees.
