Add me to the list of those searching for the perfect black trouser.
I have embraced the capsule wardrobe concept, and spent a good part of yesterday culling my closet and drawers. I have so much stuff that I just don’t wear. For all of the clothes I own, I basically wear the same half dozen outfits again and again.
Once I removed everything I don’t (and likely, won’t) wear, I was able to get a better sense of what I really need. Slim black trousers I can wear to the office was on the list.
Also on the list:
Low-heeled black bootie
Blouses! Most of my tops are knits and pullovers. I want things like this: Bea Linen Top-Azealia Pink | Boden USA but need options that are closer to half the Boden prices.
@dietz199 - I find it very frustrating when it seems like there is one prevailing style. Nothing works for everyone. Hopefully more options will be available soon.
My current beef is with yoga tanks/tops. I practice yoga 3-4 x/ week and also take barré classes so I need things to wear to class. The current styles seem to be either 1. Tops with thin straps and a built in shelf bra. Not an option for those of us who need more support on top or 2. Cropped tops. Um…I’ll be 68 in a few months. You don’t want to see my midriff.
For just this reason I wear a sports bra and t-shirt to yoga, with cheap yoga pants from old navy. I don’t care that all the other women are in cute Lululemon outfits. I am comfortable in what I am wearing. You didn’t mention the open back tops also that are popular right now.
In the almost 8 weeks since my surgery I’ve lived in Vuori and Vuori knock-off joggers, exercise leggings/tights, and some looser but thick sweat pants. If the pants are looser I have to wear higher compression spans, tighter and lighter compression ones. All the pants have to come well above my navel so there’s no rubbing in the incision.
It’s like wearing pajamas, which is fine at home, but going out I feel like a schlub.
I finally got permission to wear non-surgical bras, so I’m back in the bralettes I’ve worn for the past 2+ years. I know I’ll never wear an underwire again.
I am living vicariously through your searches for black trousers and jeans.
Adding in that I ordered a crossbody nylon bag from Quince and I’m very satisfied. The product itself seems to be made with quality (fabric, hardware) and it was packaged with care - the bag reinforced to keep its shape, wrapped fully in tissue/taped, in a cloth drawstring bag for protection and then double wrapped in plastic. Not overkill but with care. I ordered on a Monday and it arrived on Saturday.
I finally ordered my first two things from Quince and they arrived quickly. I was way overdue for an everyday purse and I had looked at a lot of options for the style and function I wanted. This one seems very well made and has good storage but is not as big as some of the bucket style bags I had seen. I also got the cashmere boatneck sweater and it is great. Super lightweight but warm and comfortable. I definitely liked the packaging as well.
I have a couple of their cashmere sweaters, and I love them! They wash well - I was a little worried the first time I washed them, but I was pleasantly surprised.
