Dressing Young 2025

This popped up on my FB page and it cracked me up. I had to bring to this group. Maybe trying to “dress young” just a little too hard?

The jeans may be for all body types, but the shirt is not!

CNN’s Dana Bash wearing “barrel” pants! I just had to snap a pic. Even on her they don’t look too flattering.

@BunsenBurner - I agree. I just don’t like that look

Quite unflattering—makes her look shorter & rounder.

I purchased these DKNY at Nordstrom Rack. They have a lot of really shiny studs in front. High waist. They came almost to my ankle and I paired

with silver metallic boots, black tank and cropped white jean jacket. Went to a new restaurant last night and 4 young gals loved them, so I felt like I dressed “young” but not inappropriate.

Also bought this Avara Jean jacket that popped up on my fb page. I’ll let you know what I think.

Are they barrel or cargo? Identity crisis!!!

I really would like a pair of black trousers. It seems like something a person should have.

Must be available in a petite size.

Any thoughts between pointe or crepe? I see Eileen Fischer has a pair of straight leg crepe pants and I’m wondering how they are? No twill please

@deb922 - I really like the High Hopes pant from AYR. They come in 3 different inseam lengths. They are pricey ( but there are sometimes discount codes), but really worth it. Great for travel.

I was hesitant to spend that much money, but I feel they are worth it.

Eileen Fisher’s slim crepe ankle length pants are my favorites. The labels indicate that you can wash them, but I always send them to the cleaners. I also like the Frank and Eileen (different company) stretch pants.

These are on sale now. I have this in multiple colors. I am a petite, but these pants fit me perfectly. They are washable.

I also like these.

I’m tired of buying inexpensive black pants that don’t work so I’m thinking of investing in something that I’ll wear all the time. The AYR pants look like what I’m looking for

@Bromfield2 and @oldfort thanks for those suggestions. I think I’ll order a few and see what works best.

Talbots is another place you might want to check - lots available in petite sizes.

White House Black Market has a very nice selection of well made, nice fitting, quality back plants. And they come in smaller sizes which not many stores seem to carry.

I’ve purchased a couple pairs of black dress pants in the past year or so, and they’re just disappointing. I had ancient pairs of slacks in my closet that hung so much better, but they were worn out. I just want a pair of slacks that are full length, slim but not form fitting or clingy, lightweight but non-wrinkling, with a waist that hits at the perfect point on my body. Ann Taylor and Banana Republic used to fit the bill, but no more. I’m thinking about looking at more expensive brands, but my frugal soul is having trouble with doing this!

I ended up ordering the AYR pair.

I looked at Talbots and WHBM, I’ve been underwhelmed with Talbots pants lately, the inseam and rise have been off. I buy a lot from Talbots but their pants seem not to fit me well

With a coupon code I found online I think the AYR pants were only $30 more than WHBM. I liked the drape of the AYR pants in the picture and hope they work well for me.

I am holding on for dear life…until this high waisted fashion trend passes. I can not wear high waisted pants. What I have is a long torso where my actual waist is low. So any high waisted pants will continue their gravity determine path until they find MY natural waist. At which point I look like I have a rather full pair of Depends. Grrrrr.

I can not stomach … literally…pants that sit at my belly button and squish my innards. So…I have a few pair of older jeans and some other pants where I literally fold over the waistline so I don’t have diaper butt or stomach aches.

Same problem with workout leggings. Honestly…it’s either continually pull them up because of baggy crotch or suffer thru tourniquet belly.

How long until mid-rise pants become the available in greater quality and selection. Not looking to feel a draft down the crack…not looking to wear pants whose top start at the bottom of the boob line…just looking for pants for my body.

Barrel pants are unflattering enough but to add the additional bulk of cargo pockets and a chunky sweater jacket to the mix… I’m guessing she’s tiny in real life, but the look just doesn’t translate to on-camera.
