Dressing Young 2025

@islandmama1 , fwiw, I have picked up some cinq a sept items at Saks Off 5th.

I’m also a huge fan of Frame, and their stuff often shows up at Nordstrom Rack. Their “travel jeans” (no hardware, no pockets – just stretchy pull on) are very flattering and comfy.

Neither brand in that outlet is a steal, but it moves them into the range of possibility.

For t-shirts, try velvet! (Wait for sales).

I love my carbon2cobalt v neck tees. I have also hung on to one cotton one for at least a decade, and it’s one I wear constantly. Weird little niche brand, but excellent quality.

Wirecutter just did a review of tees, mostly reasonably priced. Several brands I wasn’t familar with, but as this is a category I wear out and replace, I’ll be checking it out.

Great to know - there’s one near me! Thanks!

Update:
The jeans arrived today, I ordered my regular size and they fit well. They are not super long, which I like because I don’t want to wear heels with jeans.

The dress has arrived in my city and should be delivered by USPS this week. With Monday’s holiday, I am thinking Tuesday or Wednesday.

Speaking of Dressing Young…how about this?

I saw an ad for some spring-summer clothes that overall looked women’s sized and saw this adorable colorful shorts that looked like they might not be too short and could be sure for like walking on the beach, over a swimsuit, lounging by the pool- I love a fun colorful pattern!

So I clicked on the ad…whoops… they are TODDLER shorts!!! :joy:

Question. I am a person who simply cannot and never have worn heels of any skinnyness and height. I also have pretty much stuck to slacks 99.99% of the time. Because of a positive weight change, I am longing to have a couple of pretty dresses I’ve found. They are midis, which is like.
Is it okay to wear pretty low flat-ish shoes with one like this.

I think so. Some pretty ballet flats.

Agree ballet flats would look really cute!

I sometimes wear low-rise white leather sneakers with dresses like that (when I’m styling them a bit more casually). Super comfy feet but still very put together.

I agree that either ballet flats or a cute flat sandal would look good. I also wear my white leather Taos sneakers with dresses like this sometimes.

I feel like Mary Jane’s are a little more current, but ballet flats would also be good with that dress

Absolutely! Mary janes, ballet flats,
those white sneakers. Even a flat sandal. Pretty dress! I’m a fan of midi length myself.

My older sister is 73 and she likes to wear dresses that length. She has Parkinson’s so only wears flats. She likes Soft Surroundings for dresses.
I will wear a heel for a special occasion but I prefer flats or a sneaker for my lifestyle.

If you like flip flops, some of the Vionic styles are a little dressy. I have an older Taos pair of dressier flat sandals that has a bit of a greek vibe, black leather with some metal too. I like them but did not find any current examples when checking quickly.

I have these Vionic sandals and absolutely love them. I wear out a pair every summer walking 3-something miles on the trail every day. I think @conmama also recommended them.

Yes, I love those sandals! They are unbelievably comfortable, I have the silver and save them for trips where I’m walking miles a day. I did buy the cork, and the edges were really rubbing me uncomfortably. I had to return them. I wish they made them in another leather beige shade.

As far as that midi dress, I’d stick with ballet flats if you’re not touring around.

I ordered the sweater in the multicolor reddish and in black. The multicolor looks great with olive green pants and I think it will be a versatile piece. It’s definitely a boxy cropped fit but with a tank or t under it I’m happy with it. I wish it was a bit lighter weight. I’m going to return the black. I like the cream but it’s a color that doesn’t work for my complexion.
