Dressing Young 2025

I was at the mall yesterday and swung by WHBM. They had the cutest white jeans!! I was tempted but I already have white jeans…

I love these: https://www.whitehouseblackmarket.com/store/product/extra-high-rise-double-waistband-straight-ankle-jeans/570380630?inseam=regular&sizeType=regular&color=100&catId=cat11869334&collectionId=category&queryId=5f2060a425c8fc361d338a6608646321&indexName=prod_whbm_products

And I like these!

I need to go back. They have a cool denim vest!!

I have to make myself stay out of that store. I see the most beautiful occasion dresses that I have no place to wear them.

My favorite thing in my closet and most worn is a Jenni Kayne sweater. It’s not cashmere and I bought it on sale a few years ago. Where Jenni Kayne shines in my opinion is her colors. My sweater is a color that goes with everything. I think of it most like a sweatshirt.

I bet I have asked this question here before but here I am, asking again - cause I haven’t found it!

Show me your favorite Jean skirt. No matter the length, fabric, etc , provide a link if you have it.

Here’s what I’m looking for:
Lightweight
Above knee but not mini
Will NOT wear something knee or below
Looser fit - not fitted
Elastic waist or button/snap ok
On the lighter color side - medium denim color or lighter - not white.
Would consider a skort.
Under $100. Lots under would be great, lol.

I want that skirt I can grab and wear with a tshirt or a business casual shirt (for zoom calls) or a fitness sweatshirt or hoodie. I’m still working part time so it would be great for WFH or to wear casually.

I’m gonna do a little looking later to see if anything new has popped up on the online scene but any suggestions or sharing what you have/love would be great.

Tommy Bahamas, had the perfect dark navy skirt for me. I also have it in white denim.
I believe I wear the navy one several times a week.

I found this one at Talbots. Does it match your criteria?

EDIT: Dang. No idea why it won’t let me post a link.

I was going to suggest Talbot’s one too, but looks like it’s sold out. (Was $89 - not sure if same as @Hoggirl)
Other places that appear to have options
Madewell
JCrew/Jcrew factory
Banana Republic Factory has this one - price is right Banana Republic Factory

I tried to go shopping yesterday and was completely discouraged. I honestly have no idea how I am supposed to dress for everyday life.

I just don’t see many options for my age. I am sick of all the billowy peasant stuff. Shapeless, ruffles, puffy sleeves, and way too much fabric. Or ridiculously cropped and tight tops. Everything seems to be for young women. I’m not sure I would like what is out there even if I were young. I don’t want shapeless, but I don’t want tight either. I like tailored clothing, but I don’t have a need for dressy clothes. Many of my little dresses are a bit too beachy, I fear. But, I also don’t want to be boring in how I dress. I’m not a big fan of athleisure. Ugh. What do I wear to run errands and meet girlfriends for lunch?

Then I tried shoe shopping. Also a failure. I wouldn’t necessarily say my foot is narrow, but it is low volume. Very hard to fit without many straps. Found one cute pair of metallic sandals with a low-ish heel, but they did not have my size. I have comfortable sandals but I want cute ones!

So frustrating. I think I would have spent way more money than I should have had I been able to find ANYTHING I liked.

I gave up and came home and ordered some basic T’s from WhiteHouse/BlackMarket. Nothing exciting, but I did need them.

Not a bad choice! And appreciate jogging my mind of places to look. I’ll check the GAP family of stores.

Oh. I bet that was why I couldn’t link it. It was cute! I liked the vertical seaming in the front.

:100:

I’m tired of sorting through that stuff to find something that is not any of that!

I was at a store yesterday returning something and found a top similar to the floral one that @deb922 and someone else ordered from Anthro recently. It’s was lightweight and so cute!!! - but had these ruffle sleeves that seemed to jut out from my arms. I felt like they were sleeves for a 6 year old not a 60+ year old! I was disappointed

The denim skirt is a good idea for a good basic piece that matches a variety of tops. Hope you find one you like.

I’ll mention that I have a khaki colored casual skort that gets a lot of use in summer. Love the fact that it matches easily with many of my summer tops, good for travel. (Sometimes I take a khaki linen skirt because it is a little dressier and my husband really likes it. But the skort is more comfortable.)

I had that happen when it was a May release that I have access to by the general public does not.

It’s a super cute denim skort if it’s the one I saw

The skort I saw is definitely not sold out. Looks like it still has a full run available

I have quite a selection of skorts but some of them are a little short - fine around the house.

I do have a green khaki skirt I wear quite a bit. The denim blue would be a good closet partner to this. I don’t usually do tan khaki.
