They have not published my question yet. They’ve had a contract with USPS to deliver packages up to 5 lbs with Priority Mail. The rate increases each year and as of last month had been $8.27. USPS increased that to over $11, so Poshmark did a new contract for ground shipping for $6.49 up to 5 lbs.
so, you are correct. There is no option for priority anymore.
We sellers are not thrilled with it, but would buyers be willing to pay over $11? It’s a platform that has changed so much in 3 years, and not for the better. How did you find out about your package.
I would gladly pay $30 for signature required express delivery for some high value items - this is what RealReal charges. If I’m going to spend $500 on a coveted bag, I’m not going to risk losing iit! RealReal charges for the “donkey caravan” shipping so express is only $15 or so more. So yeah, for $7, the contractor apparently chucked it in the back of the truck and did not deliver… I guess they have to make all deliveries so they marked as delivered. Our regular mailman is a saint.
I know this a clothing thread, but reading your anecdote about the delivery, BunsenBurner, caught my attention because recently, I ordered a hand crafted item on Etsy (I’ve ordered via Etsy before, but of course, there are individual sellers) to be sent to my daughter, as a gift for the first night of her performance in a theater production. It was to be sent to her apartment in NYC. She never received it and I was so disappointed. The tracking shows it as delivered via USPS. She asked the concierge at her building who knew nothing of this package. I assumed there was no recourse.
Edited to add, I sent that to be received at her home for what is referred to as “first preview” performance. It was meant to be a keepsake to the specific role she plays. I have debated about paying to buy it again and have it sent to my own apartment and eventually to give it to her. Meanwhile, for the official opening night, I sent roses that were delivered to her dressing room at a very large theater. For that, I was worried if they’d get to her, but she got them that night right to her room.
So far we have been pretty fortunate and received the items that are claimed to be delivered. I’m hoping this trend continues. It is upsetting to read that others have NOT gotten items claimed to be received.
The postal service in my neighborhood has been absolutely awful for the past 6 months or so with things getting lost and weeks-long delays in getting lettered mail that I’ve been expecting. I’m invited to a wedding where the save-the-dates went out 2 months ago in large invitation-sized envelopes. My daughter (who lives 2 miles from me) received hers promptly after they were sent. I’ve never received mine, despite verifying that one was sent. The return of the security deposit from my other daughter’s college apartment took 4 weeks to reach us from a town that’s a little over 2 hour’s drive away. Her roommates received theirs within days of them being sent several states away.
I’m constantly getting other neighbor’s mail, and they are constantly getting mine. Last week, I got mail from someone in an entirely different neighborhood. There are some days when our carrier skips delivering in our neighborhood altogether, so I never know whether the mail is today’s mail or yesterday’s mail. I can only guess that it’s because they are understaffed, but I no longer trust sending or receiving anything USPS.
Unfortunately, I have not had my message posted. When I do, and I get responses, I’ll let everyone know. It seems because of this incident, you won’t be purchasing from Poshmark anymore because of the ground shipping. I totally agree with you on purchasing expensive items. But it does sound like it was the delivery person’s fault, not Poshmark, is that correct? However, there needs to be instructions on what to do with your money if this happens. I don’t blame you for not ordering again if this was your experience.
I do have to say that I’m not thrilled about not having priority Mail delivery. Those boxes were free at the post office. The ground boxes contracted have to be ordered by us and they take forever to get to us and I think they are cheaply made
Thank you! Just to clarify, I am not going to be boycotting Poshmark, I will just limit my purchases to inexpensive items. Definitely no LV bags or Manolo shoes if they can’t be shipped securely! Speaking of expensive things, many retailers would not ship things over a certain $$ amount without “signature required.” Which is a good thing, although some delivery people still leave boxes without even ringing the doorbell…
Regarding Poshmark boxes, my dress was shipped neatly packed inside a large ziplock inside a colorful plastic shipping bag. I liked that a lot as cardboard can get very soggy here in our rainy weather!
actually I stand corrected. We have had UPS packages dropped off at our house when they were for a house about 20 houses down from us. We have same last name as the other person but our address is 56xx and theirs is 55xx. The numbers and names aren’t that similar. They also dropped off a very expensive piece of medical equipment off at wrong house and faked MY signature, even though the homeowner protested it was wrong home. Fortunately she called UPS to complain so they knew when I called where it was. I went & fetched it because I didn’t trust a re-delivery.
Our USPS has a regular habit of notating a package as ‘delivery attempted’ when no such thing actually occurred. The explanation I got was ‘well, sometimes we run out of time during the shift and we don’t have a ‘we ran out of time and will get to it tomorrow’ option so it gets marked as ‘attempted’.
My question as to whether the ‘attempted delivery’ really means well…we had good intentions and INTENDED to bring it to your address…but then we didn’t..met with a glare.
It was very frustrating during the last holiday season but nothing I said or suggested at the local office made an iota of difference. Merchants will also make you wait X amount of time after an item which was CLEARLY not delivered but marked as such before undertaking any action.
For Amazon items, I usually get a choice to have it delivered to an Amazon Locker (local delivery box; the closest one is at a convenience store a mile from me). I tried it once, just to see how it works. It was so easy using my cellphone that I don’t recall the details. Supposedly there is an Amazon Hub locker system that can be used by other vendors… would like to see that kind of thing more since we do have more porch thefts than I like.
Yes, but Poshmark has the 3 day rule: any problems with an order must be declared within 3 days of delivery or the order is confirmed as accepted. Just wanted to point out that after 3 days there is nothing that can be done.
Our regular mailman is awesome. Delivers everything to the front door despite the fact that he needs to drive up our very long driveway. The contractors who do some types of deliveries are awful, apparently.
I think true to size just means that if I try on 10 pairs of jeans - any brand or even the same brand - and the majority of those jeans show me to be a size 10 - then I would consider my size to be 10 and so in a jean advertised as “true to size” that’s the size I’m going to order or try on first - cause in MAJORITY of cases, 10 is my size.
I’m looking to buy a new pair of glasses (maybe two). I usually wear contacts (and use readers) but need a pair (maybe several) that I can use if I can’t wear contacts. This would be at work (computer) and also for driving (hence maybe two pairs). Trying to avoid the dizzying bifocal sitch.
Any Lululemon fans here? What pants/shirts from them do you like? Apparently, Amex platinum card holders can now get 75$ off each quarter on an order from them.
