Dressing Young 2026

I wear it tucked into high waisted palazzo pants or skirt.

Two questions on ‘youthful vibe’ (heading to trip involving hot weather & pool time)

  1. Is sparkly gold nail polish on trend? I have been wearing on toenails for years since you can barely tell when it chips. I’m low maintenance in this area!
  2. if not, is there another low maintenance color that’s cool?

I wear a light pink or almost white (pearl) color on my toes in the summer. It works well for beach vacations when I don’t want to have to redo my toes. We will be in Bermuda for 12 days at the end of July and I plan to get a pedicure the day before we fly and have them done light pink.

Light pink is a great option! I am lazy and don’t want to show any chips lol.

I usually wear a neutral/nude color on my toes so if it gets banged up or starts to grow out it’s not as noticeable. My go-to color is Machu Peachu from OPI:

Maybe I should make this a new thread. On the subject of Dressing Young, I’d like to walk as if my shoes are not pinching! I can buy shoe brands with a wide toe box, but now I need to focus on socks.

I can find wide toe sport socks (for workout shoes) but I need to find thinner socks for Keds and the like.

These are my favorites from Nordstrom.

I’m now buying the Large size. Even though they are too long, they relieve pressure on the toes.

Does anyone have a good nylon/spandex socks that are no-show like these?

Nice socks! I’m a Bombas fan but don’t see any links to the ones I bought a while ago.

The “show” socks are apparently in with the younger crowd!

I have several pairs of these. They do cover the top of my foot, which does limit what shoes I wear them with. Bombas makes others, but Nordstrom has them for pickup only.

Medium fits my wide, size 9+ feet.

I wore the house brand of no show socks from Road Runner sports for years, but I’ve moved on and am trying others, including smartwool, REI brand, and Balega.

I cannot do thick or even sort of thick socks, at all! I need an ultralight sock that can take a beating as I wash and wear then over and over.

I have ordered these two several times. They are not cheap. Sometimes I can find them for less.

I also have a couple of pairs of Swiftwick cycling socks. They are thinner than typical running socks.

I think I will try the Feetures. I just wish they were cut a bit lower!

I love my Swiftwicks for many reasons. The Mediums fit well and don’t pinch my toes (where I am developing a good callous.

In the winter, I’ll put Swiftwicks on when I am getting into bed and my feet warm up quickly!

These are the thinnest I’ve found and they are guaranteed to stay on. I’ve had to buy a size bigger because socks in general irritate the tips of my toes for some reason.

We’ve loved Bombas in our family but if you are being active (working out or walking a lot), Bombas tend to get holes in the toes - so for active socks, we like Feetures. They last.

Question…

So, referencing my post above about the July wedding I am going to, I am going with this dress (I love it but had to exchange for a smaller size)

https://www.adriannapapell.com/products/strapless-ruched-floral-stretch-mesh-gown-in-navy-multi-ap1e213471?variant=53121452048749

I want to wear a lightweight cropped cardigan on top (1. Don’t like my arms and 2. it’s an outdoor evening wedding in a location that only reaches a high of 70 degrees and cools off when the sun goes down).

While I was initially thinking of a navy cardigan - navy can be tough to match. The pink is pretty but also hard to match (it is a dusty pink and everything I’m seeing is a baby pink). So that brings me to the off white/ivory. I’m not concerned about the whole “don’t wear white to a wedding” because the dress is mostly navy and I’m looking at ivory - not bright white, and the cardigan is a small part of the whole outfit. Style-wise, what are your thoughts on the ivory (I’d be picking up the off white/Ivory flowers on the dress)? It’s a summer wedding so I’m thinking it will be ok to lighten it up a bit instead of going with a navy sweater. Ideally, if I could match the pink, I would do that but I can’t find anything.

ETA - I already have a really pretty navy suede purse that I want to use. Should I just go with a navy cardigan?

I wasn’t able to copy /paste the link but I have a button front cotton cropped cardigan from Madewell which is available in ivory. ( I have it in white).

The website shows it worn with shorts but I wear it over sundresses and it works.

OK, I’m able to post the link

Thank you! I see they have it in navy too, if I decide to go that route.

The cardigan the @FallGirl posted looks like it would work for the dress. On the plus side it is something you could wear again.

How about a deep rose sweater? The closeup of the flower on the dress shows darker tones.
