Maybe a reminder that you don’t post here ONLY because you’re already a fashionista- you can post to get advice and build skill in putting together an outfit that fits YOUR likes and lifestyle
If you happen to have a Nordstrom anywhere near you, if you call them ahead of time they will provide you with a personal shopper. You can tell them what kinds of things you’re looking for, probably your price points, things like that, and they will work with you to put some outfits together. I don’t think there’s any minimum spend, but check before you do it. They once offered me $50 credit if I spent $50 or more to attend a personal shopper visit, but I haven’t seen that offer again.
Often times people have all they need right in their closet. We have a habit of starting over, buying more - while not working with what we have. I bet @MaineLonghorn has stuff in her closet that could be worked with to create a look she is satisfied with!
I belong to a private group on Facebook made up of friends, and we often upload photos for fashion advice from each other!
I also text my fashionista D for advice.
Yes, it is nice now that I’ve lost 38 pounds to fit into some of my old clothes that still look OK. ![]()
I frequently send pictures of outfits to my kids for their input!
Me too!!
It’s actually a beaded lace neckline, which always bothered me just a tiny bit because that seemed more casual than the rest of the top. I’ve usually worn it with my ni’iahu shell necklace from Hawaii.
I may start wearing it again with the black jeans, thanks all!
I think I found the dress and shoes for my September Colorado wedding! The heels are definitely stocky enough to not go through the metal grates by the gondola and hopefully not sink into grass for the reception.
The dress is simple enough to be easily dressed up with some jewelry and is super comfortable.
I have a pashmina in exactly this color (perfect match), a silver and purple Coach clutch purse, and I’ll also be bringing my cute black Kate Spade coat which is the same length as the dress.
And I was thinking of ya’ll as I was texting my daughter selfies from the dressing room ; )
And here’s the dressing room selfie:
That’s a great look @momofboiler1 !
Thank you! it’s a great material, comfy, and should be great for dancing too!
You rock that dress and put the model to shame! The dress looks so much better on you! I love it all!
what earrings?
That’s so sweet but I feel a bit lumpy right now as I put on a few pounds over the holidays. I’ll get them off before the wedding for sure though ; )
In terms of jewelry, I have a gorgeous longer gold link chain necklace that was my mom’s that I already tried on with the dress that is a bit more of a statement piece so I will likely keep the earrings more simple. I have a pair of triple marquise cut “diamond” earrings that I think that I’ll wear.
You rock that look! Love your outfit.
Very nice, and I’m guessing you’re relieved to have figured it out early.
Thanks ladies!
So, next question - bare legs or hose? And if hose, nude or black?
Reminder that the wedding will be on top of a mountain in Colorado in mid September. Usually I would lean to bare legs but I don’t want to be too cold either.
This looks terrific on you!
I have a wedding to attend in Charleston SC in May, and attire is “garden party cocktail.”
Light colors and light fabrics are encouraged. IF anyone happens to see a great dress in blue, purple or green that might fit that description, especially if it’s on sale, please feel free to PM me or post here.
I am normal size/weight, and 5’8” or so. I think I’d like sleeveless but thick enough for a bra, I prefer round neck but can do v-neck, I don’t want anything shiny and I don’t want to look like a bridesmaid (second dress below felt a little like that). I think I look better in solids but also think prints can be fun. I don’t want to spend a fortune on this dress.
Does something like this seem dressy enough, for a 5:30 wedding?
I tried this or something similar on at Macy’s, but it was “way too much dress” for me
I would buy a very sheer nude hose ( b/c of the cold). I had good luck in Nordstrom, they can recommend.
I love the first dress! Agreed that the second looks too “bridesmaid-y”
