Looks great! I’d definitely go with sheer black hose if you have to wear hose.
Whoa those are super cute! I like the big buckle - looks chic and modern - and they work great with the dress!
PS wish I could wear that sky-high, cool heel height!
They’re not that high. Just probably 2 inches or so.
Nice! I think you’ll appreciate the extra warmth. If you happen to encounter a short stretch of wide metal grating holes at top of lift, just keep the weight on the balls of your feet.
The heel is actually wider/chunkier than it looks from the side but yes, I’ll be careful getting on/off the gondola!
So much love for dearly departed Dolly Parton on social media. Wonder if we’ll be seeing wigs make a comeback.
Not sure about that but you never know! It’s been fun to see the clips of her from the Barbara Walters’ interview and especially her quote that “I would never stoop so low as to be fashionable, that’s the easiest thing in the world to do.”![]()
Barbara Walters was pretty patronizing in her interview! Dolly handled so well.
Madewell has Labor Day Sale. code=LONGWEEKEND for extra 30% off. I tried these on at store yesterday but decided a little too pricey.. and I needed next size anyway. Now I’m a maybe - screenshot to show sale/markdown
Madewell is never really inexpensive except maybe if you find your size and item at their “extra 50% off sale items” stock. My daughters have definitely gone through Madewell times of their lives and their stuff often wears well. BUT I also think they just have enough of a (good) reputation with certain demographics that they can charge what they like - and get it.
Sign up for their birthday bonus though - I think they give you some free $$ to use then?!
My Madewell purchases a few weeks ago were 25% off for birthday month. Also they said 15% off for half-birthday month.
I really like the fact that Madewell will shorten pants. Now the pair of black jeans I bought may or may not get shortened. They advise you wear them and wash before coming in for hemming, and my pair (was on sale for $99, then 25% off) is so far working ok with wedge heel sandals.
I have these jeans in the other 2 washes and love them! I’m picky about jeans and really picky about color washes that I like and tend to splurge on the premium brands that are tried and true for me. $83.99 is a good deal when the original price was $148. I think Madewell has good quality jeans.
I liked the “Airy Denim” fabric, which seemed cooler for summer than regular jeans. And the light olive color a little dressier (though perhaps tougher to match). Oops… too late now, sold out.
I can say that of the two Madewells I’ve visited, the sales staff was super helpful but not pushy. I often bring along my husband clothes shopping, and Madewell stores have a nice place for him to sit.
lol I sat in that comfy spot that have MANY a time during 2 D’s try on’s!
Saw this at the local Nordstrom yesterday and had to have it! Remember that sweater (or as the British call it, “jumper”)?

Super soft cotton and very well made.
@BunsenBurner my S has a sweater like that! He gets lots of compliments on it.
The story of the original Sheep Jumper:
Anyone buy any cute clothes lately? I’ve been cutting back on clothes shopping because I don’t really need anything and it’s too hot to really get into fall clothes yet. I did get a few things during the Target Labor Day sale and did have some good finds at TJ Maxx last month. However, would love to see if anyone has bought anything fun.
I bought some things over LDW with all the sales going on - some Madewell jeans, some AG jeans on sale at Nordstrom, a new-with-tags Reformation sweater on Poshmark, a couple of bathing suits from JCrew. I’ve lost a fair amount of weight over the past year and have had to re-purchase almost every item of clothing - underwear, bras, pajamas, bathing suits, activewear, jeans, sweaters, tops. It’s a first-world problem and I’m glad I am slimming down but it is a very expensive endeavor to have to restock at a smaller size. It doesn’t help that I am a brand snob. I am selling a lot of my old stuff, several sizes larger on PM but it’s pretty much pennies on the dollar over there. I’m just going to scale back completely on my wardrobe, focus on basic and timeless pieces…(no I’m not
)
I am just patiently waiting for fall to come so I can bring out the sweaters! I’m also struggling with fall shoes - looking for loafers that don’t look matronly (no rounded or squared off toe). Is it me, or have the price of decent shoes risen significantly over the past couple of seasons? I’m not looking for red-bottoms but sheesh!
I haven’t done much clothes shopping lately either. I have been too consumed with our move.
However, I need to start thinking about dh’s 45-year high school reunion which is the third weekend in October. Friday night is easy - it’s a football game so jeans and something in purple (one of his high school colors, which is definitely better for me than the other (which is gold)). It’s the Saturday night event that is giving me trouble. It is at the country club, but the dress code is, “casual.” Now, I didn’t want to wear a green taffeta formal and a tiara, but I wanted a notch above casual. Any suggestions?? I’d rather wear a skirt or dress than pants. Weather is also tricky - temps can still be pretty unpredictable that time of year. I’d like to wear boots, but if it’s in the upper 70’s, that won’t work well
Any suggestions??
