My D, who is about 5’ 7" with a 35" inseam, rocks the ankle boots and dress look…of course, she is 14.

Thanks guys. I’m not wearing leggings. My daughter was horrified when I broached the subject. (MOM< NO!!)…She’s 14. They have them at Chico’s (I don’t really like Chico’s) and I realise that its probably because you can get away with a tunic top and expandable waist if you have some extra middle aged pounds on. I’ll skip it.

Anyone familiar with a website SWIRL? It seems to offer daily and ongoing deals on designer clothes?

I wear leggings under a just above knee length dress or skirt and ankle boots. I’m 46 with rather ‘nice’ legs. I also wear skinnyish (LOTS o’ lycra, thank you) jeans with heeled boots and leather jackets.

I love winter because I can cover up all sorts of faults with jackets, boots, and opaque leggings.

^ I like the shinny jeans with heeled boots look.

Bought a leather jacket several years ago. Now I am seeing very similar jackets shown as being in. Yay!

^^Cool
I hope skinny jeans with boots trend is here to stay.

Bought my first pair of skinny jeans this June, just bought my 6th pair yesterday. :)

Love love skinny jeans, even though I am undertall for my weight. They slim me down, go figure.

Some fashionista also introduced me to ToyWatch, colorful plastic watches. Michelle O and Oprah apparently like them too.

[Famous Wrists | ToyWatch USA](http://toywatchusa.com/content/Famous_Wrists.htm)

I am still thinking about them. $295 seem like a bit much to pay for plastic - no matter how they jazz it up as “Plasteramic”

muchkin, dontcha mean GOOD figure.

I know my skinny jeans and their generous supply of lycra make me look thinner and tighter and younger in ways that ‘Mom jeans’ cannot. I think the problem with them is the world ‘skinny.’ Many women who would look great in them can’t bring themselves to try them on lest they not look skinny in them. But I don’t know too many figure types who don’t look better with a version of them on. I’m not talking ‘stick figure with no soul’ skinny but ‘Ive had three kids and still have the weight to prove it’ skinny.

Holy mollie, mousegray - $300 for a plastic watch? OTOH, there is a lot of overpriced cr@p out there. :)

"An anti-luxury statement in a luxury obsessed culture, TOYWATCH has become the “it” wristwatch and the “must-have” item among style influentials and tastemakers. "

I hope it is not made in China! For about $300 I can get a Gucci watch at my local Costco… And make a luxury statement - if I had the money! ;)

I just don’t like tight fitting clothing. Even with lycra skinny jeans make me want to go home and climb into my pajamas. I like loose. Have always liked loose. Also can’t stand to wear a turtle neck. A friend told me this means I was hung in a former life . . .

Am now in NJ and am delighted to find that the local Bloomingdales carried one of my favorite lines - Free People. Am mortifying daughter with my peasant blouses, flowing calico look.

Did I miss some good fashion advice on what footwear to wear with dresses/skirts in the winter? I need pointers on that.

I’m anxiously waiting for peep toe shoes and boots to die a long overdue death. I hate my toes so I don’t want to look at them let alone anyone else to peep them. Besides, the idea of wearing a boot in the winter with it’s toe point missing is just cheesy. IMO.

Finding cute ankle boots WITH toes of late has been challenging. Luckily I stocked up on pointy toe ones a few years ago and wear them instead. I don’t care if they are ‘out’ because my toes are warm, my leg elongated, and my wallet fatter!!!

missypie, my 40 something sibling loves sharing her 13 year old daughter’s clothes. I’m hoping Stacy and Clint pounce on her before she hits 50. I’m thinking she believes because she can that she should. But Daisy Dukes on 40 somethings just look ridiculous. IMO.

^As long as she enjoys it, why not? Some Clint’s clothes looks bad also. I like most of Stacy’s, but not everything. They are definitely wrong in regard to “missus” cut, it does not fit lots of us, juniors are much more comfy.

Because from behind she looks like she could be 23 and when she turns around she looks closer to 48. So while she might enjoy dressing twenty years younger than her age it actually makes her look older because it looks like she’s trying too hard. She’s got a great figure which looks 20 something but a face which looks old for her age. Too many tanning beds.

There is no reason why she can’t look sexy AND age appropriate.

Amen! ^^^^^^

Wow, someone who looks 23 from the back has so much to work with. I agree that teen clothes are not the way to go though.

I saw a catalog yesterday (Brooks Brothers) and there were lots of chocolate brown tights featured. They looked good with tweeds and boots. Lots of long belted cardigans too. Anyway, I’m looking forward to tights and boots…but I think I’ll skip the little booties - you need a good heel with those and heels are not my thing :)

^^Amen X 2!

I do not get peep toe boots… In my neck of the woods, boots are worn in the fall, which means rain and puddles, so any open toe shoe becomes a water scooping device :)

It’s like in the Snow White’s Scary Adventures Ride at Disneyworld:

I don’t ever want to turn around and have people be shocked at how old I am!

LOL @ Missy. Ditto! I’m sort of glad I have the opposite problem. I look kind of frumpy from the backside but when I turn around I look around ten years younger. There are all sorts of temporary fixes for that problem. Spanx, how do I thank thee?

The men in our social crew say “Naw” (outloud) when they see someone like that. It stands for Not Aging Well or Not Aging Wisely. It’s pretty awful when you see someone in teenage clothes. I often wonder what it is they see when they look in the mirror. Ditto on open toe boots…as a midwestern person who puts boots on when it gets cold and rainy and snowy - about 8 out of 12 months I say “what the heck.” Not for me. The other 4 months are hot and who wants any kind of boot strapped on your feet in heat and humidity.
