I thought she might turn her nose up and declare them old lady shoes, but she says they are awesome for standing all day.
My D also is in a masters teaching program & just bought some Danskos.
( when she bought them I was a little surprised- her sister either wears boots or flip flops)

mom60 most of the time I wear [Womens Slip On Shoes - Jungle Moc - Merrell.com](http://www.merrell.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/20464W/47171/Perfect-Plum/J60050?dimensions=0) with my jeans. I have purple and black. Sometimes I wear a Rieker Antistress shoe thats sort of a jazzy Mary Jane. It doesn’t exist anymore, but here’s their collection: [Birkenstock, Reiker](<a href=“riekerfootwear.co.uk - This website is for sale! - riekerfootwear Resources and Information.”>riekerfootwear.co.uk - This website is for sale! - riekerfootwear Resources and Information.) My husband last Christmas miraculously got a pair of Ralph Lauren boots that fit perfectly and are comfortable.

mathmom- I have these merrills [Siren Sport Women’s Hiking Shoe with Vibram Sole Technology - Merrell.com](Women's Hiking Boots & Shoes | Merrell)
I like the merrell shoes you have but I am looking for something more stylish.
But thanks for the link to the merrill site. They have some other shoes that while don’t meet the Dressing Young criteria are cute. But I hate that so many of the shoes with lace now don’t actually tie!

FWIW, barkingdogshoes dot com is a blog for fussy feet. The writer may (or may not) receive comped shoes and boots, so it may be somewhat biased. It is a good place to find out about various brands that may not have been on your radar. She has reviewed a number of boots.

Went on zappos to look at merrills. Plenty of merrills but I found these [Stuart Weitzman Inlet Fawn Velour - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways](<a href=“Stuart weitzman inlet fawn velour stuart + FREE SHIPPING | Zappos.com”>Stuart weitzman inlet fawn velour + FREE SHIPPING | Zappos.com)
I love the look of them. I don’t know if they would fit my feet. Also don’t know if I would spend that amount on a pair of shoes but I think they would look good with my jeans.
I see the boots at 6 pm for less. I might order them. Does anyone know how Stuart Weitzman shoes run?

Such a cute bootie, mom60! I think S-W shoes run slightly smallish. The Stuart Weizman shoes I have are all 9.5 (I wear 8.5-9 in US made shoes). Snifff… that size is not available!

wnp, I’m not too disappointed!
Eons ago, I was looking at Danskos - not to make a fashion statement, but to keep my feet happy while waltzing around the lab. They turned out to be very uncomfortable for some reason, and I stuck with Clarks and Eccos.

I am sitting here at my new job wearing black Danskos. It is rainy outside and they are good for the walk across the parking lot and still look OK with nice slacks/blazer. I personally think Danskos are a little hard for all day standing, but I like them as a “go to” work shoe and have several pairs. I splurged on a pair of Tory Burch flats last week when I was in PA and they are really cute and comfortable. Comfortable in the sense that they are all good all-day-at-work where I mostly sit on my butt, as opposed to walking around a building all day. They are very cute with skinny jeans and thin black socks.

Has anyone ordered from 6pm? The boots are $70 cheaper on that site.

6pm is the clearance site of Zappos. Last winter I bought an expensive Ugg shearling coat from them and was very happy with it. You pay a nominal fee for shipping and returns ($6 or $8, I forgot), and all returns have to be completed within 30 days - so if you know the size, 6pm is a great source.

thanks, 6 pm is offering free ground shipping, I will give them a try.
My Nordstrom cashmere sweaters arrived yesterday.[Only Mine V-Neck Cashmere Sweater | Nordstrom](http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/only-mine-v-neck-cashmere-sweater/3185573?origin=PredictiveSearch&resultback=247)
I love the olive green. It is just the color I was had been searching for. While the cashmere is not the highest quality it is perfect for a Ca winter. The price is decent and if it only last me one or two winters that is fine with me. The sweater has been restyled since last year, this year the sweater is more fitted and not the least bit boxy. I also like that they have now ribbed the sleeves at the wrist. It isn’t the most exciting sweater but it is perfect for my usual winter uniform. Jeans, ribbed tank with a v neck sweater.

The only shoe I like for comfort as well as Dansko is the Cole Haan/Air Nike brand. But not for jeans. I just like a more substantive shoe with a jean.

Okay, so I went to the mall to have batteries replaced in several wristwatches. Found myself at a little jewelry store and getting really nice help from a gentleman. And I’m just idly looking over the various baubles and keep looking at this silly little watch by Bulova:

http://www.allamericanwatches.com/product/98L005

It was deeply discounted and, of course, not a super expensive brand and not diamonds but just so silly and pretty – so I bought for myself! Am wearing it today with my burgundy danskos and jeans.

I bet you will get lots of compliments!

The nice thing about bracelets and watches is that you can just look down at them and feel so pleased with yourself!

I may have a project for everyone who wants to chime in. Last year I bought a dress from Nicole Miller online - something I considered for stepdaughter’s wedding. It was on sale and before I purchased I LOOKED to see if there were any restrictions on returning sale items. I did not see any - and really I did look.

Well, I opted for my original dress and decided to return the dress. I had to get a return number or some such thing, I did that and mailed the dress within fourteen days of purchasing.

I got a call from them telling me that because the item was on sale, I could only receive credit.

The amount was $255. Not a huge amount of money, but I was ticked off. IF I had known that, I probably would have kept the dress.

So - if you gals want to vote for what I should buy - go right ahead. I will probably get jewelry because I WILL NOT spend anymore than the $255. And I will never buy online from them again.

Just thought I would throw in a new project for the DY crew!

Pretty watch - reminds me of Tiffany’s Schlumberger X ring:

[Tiffany & Co. | Item | Schlumberger Sixteen Stone ring in 18k gold with diamonds. | United States](http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?fromGrid=1&sku=GRP00053&mcat=148210&cid=287466&search_params=s+5-p+3-c+287466-r+101323351+101323339-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+)

You should get one to match!

I’m thinking of getting some skinny jeans to tuck inside my boots and to wear with a new pair of ballet flats I just bought. The problem–I’m not really the skinny jeans type. I’m a bit hippy and a size 12. Is there a particular brand that’s meant for us hmmm more mature types??? Is there an alternative? Seems the magazines show cute flats with skinny jeans…and don’t know what else I’d wear inside boots…Ideas??

I have a pair of jeans from the GAP. They aren’t their skinny jeans but the are called Real Straight. I wear them cuffed with flats. They aren’t skin tight skinny but are skinny enough for someone of our age. I find Gap jeans to run big so it might be best to go to a store and try them on.
Gap;

Beil - if you want to wear skinny or straight jeans you must commit yourself to trying on lots of jeans. Now if you quickly find a pair that works, great, but don’t add jean shopping to a day when you are buying other things. I am a believer that we underestimate the difference in how jeans fit. This project is worth it. If you find a brand or style that fits well, you will look great. So many subtle things make a difference, i.e., pocket placement, waistline, room in the seat.

I found that DKNY jeans work for me for straight jeans, on the other hand, I really like Ann Taylor trouser jeans. Anyway, the time it takes is well worth it.

Jeans are very tricky to shop for online, unless you are already familiar with the style.Beil, is there a Nordstrom not too far from your house? Nordy’s carries a huge selection of brands that fit mature women’s bodies, hips and all, like my favorite David Kahn jeans. Oher brands that are worth looking at are NYDDJ, Kut and possibly AG jeans. When you find the brand and style you like, you can look for deals online or at the Rack.

Gourmetmom, I just knew you would come up with the right “reference” piece for my silly watch. Now I feel as if I have good taste. Thanks!

Wnp, I looked at the jewelry on Nicole Miller’s website, and nothing jumped at me as something outstanding or unique. What is the expiration date of your credit? I suspect some of the clothing on the site will go on sale soon.

After many delays in transit, my beautiful chocolate leather pants finally arrived! DH retrieved the box from behind the planter on Tuesday. The pants fit like they were custom made for my body, not too tight, not too loose, and they look like slim trousers made of leather. The Tory pants are styled like slim jeans. The two pairs are so different that I decided to keep both! BB aka leather pant hoarder, LOL. I have a suspicion that a certain young lady will have dibs on the Tory pants when she goes clothes shopping in my closet over the Thanksgiving break. :)

BB - thanks for checking out the site. I wasn’t impressed excited about anything either. There is no stated expiration date, but I do not want to be burned again by this online retailer.
