Agree with Alumother. Just as with skirt lengths this season, there are no clear guidelines, so anything goes. I still see plenty of bootcut styles in the stores and on folks in my neck of the woods. I would not take my bootcut jeans to the dump yet. :)

Got my Aquatalia booties today. Wow, they are very comfortable despite the higer than I wanted heel. I thought for a while and decided, following Bromfield’s suggestion, to get size 9, then the last minute changed that to 9.5, and I’m glad I did. The booties feel just right, with minor room for a thicker sock. Love them!

Dropped Ds boots off with Dave Page to be resoled.
:o I didn’t know he identified Mallory’s boots. ( George Leigh) I’m impressed.
Hope it will buy some time so she can find a new pair. She apparently either wears flip flops, these italian knee high boots she found at the Salvation Army, or her running shoes.
Since she only wears her running shoes when she is actually running, it is the flip flops & the boots. We had them resoled last year, but they were new decades before she was born, so don’t expect miracles. :(

If Dave cannot do it, then the boots are officially dead. I just brought a bunch of D’s favorites from a cobbler (Wdvl Shoe Repair). I could have easily bought her a new pair of boots with the money I spent on the repairs, but she really loved those shoes (and, quite frankly, those BCBG pointy pumps feel more like fuzzy socks than torture devices for the feet). Boston’s been pretty tough on her footwear.

A while ago someone asked to help locate a brown blazer. Our local Gap store had this in brown tweed wool fabric, clearance priced at less than $50: [Herringbone academy blazer](Gap)

My fav jeans are still my old button up straight leg levi’s from grad school. They are wonderfully dorky – not cropped but short as in coming to the top of the shoe. I used to garden in them but they’re getting fragile in the knees and I want to preserve them.

“Have you bought jeans this season yet? What style?”

I bought two pair of skinny jeans and a pair of skinny cords (in bright orange!) I pair them with long sleeve tee’s under long sweater and ballet flat when it’s a nice warmish day (like today!) high boots or low boots when it’s chilly and my Uggs when it’s freezing/snowing. Just bought a very cute new low boot in brown suede, which I think will look terrific, and I bought a very cute black patent pump for when I want be a bit more dressy.

I am working on rounding out my work wardrobe since I just got a new full time job. I live in Michigan, so when it is snowy, I want to wear boots to work then change ino my shoes inside to protect my shoes. Is this dorky? What boots would you wear with your dressy outfits and dressy black coat? Last year I wore a “puffy” brown coat with brown ugg-type knock offs.

I like there so far:

BunsenBurner - I was the one looking for a brown shorter blazer. Thanks for the tip to check at Gap! I did see the black one online but they didn’t show a brown one so I didn’t look in the actual store when I was there. Maybe I’ll get lucky!

Just confirmation that the JCrew toothpick jeans stretch. The gals in my store were right and I should have bought the smaller size. After a day of wearing what was perfect in the morning, by evening was just too big (closer to a matchstick fit). I’m sure they’ll tighten up again when I wash them, but I think I’m going to have to order the smaller ones. Who would have thought?

Sure -

I don’t think that’s dorky. I wouldn’t want to be confined to wearing an outfit that coordinated with my “weather” boots. In sloppy conditions I wouldn’t want to mess up my good leather boots. I have a limited clothing budget so I try to protect and extend the life of my clothing. I like the Teva’s and Bogs boots.

Blue - same thing happened with my purchase of Limited colored denim. By about midday I have to be careful that I don’t lose my drawers!

I can add that even for the J. Crew bootleg cords you ought to size down. And, as far as weather boots? Heck, I walk to work, and plan to wear my Kamik rainboots on the way and change on arrival. Here in SF it gets wet. Of the ones you’ve listed, I like the Tevas and the Kamiks best, but that’s just personal preference for the simpler styles.

That’s common unfortunately. Either the denim is lesser quality and it stretches out with wear, or the denim hasn’t been totally preshrunk so it shrinks after wearing. I’d just like to know in the store how my clothes are going to fit when I have the three way mirror!

My daughter has large bosoms for her petite frame & has a heck of a time finding appropriate clothing. ( I offered to pay for a reduction -I love mine, but perhaps she is still thinking she might want to nurse babies?
)

I think she has already found some of these resources but I thought they were worth sharing.

I suggested some scarves.

ek - does your daughter have a blog?

Glad to hear jeans styles are still varied. Some days I feel like bootcut and others I feel like skinny.

I love the J Crew matchstick style. I have not noticed a whole lot of stretch. Some brands do fit more tight than others and I really can’t stand the heavy fitted styles that make me feel like I am wearing tights made of denim.

EK, these are great links. My DIL is a busty size 6 and has told me how hard it is to find clothes that fit properly. After much effort, she had identified a few places in the UK and Scotland, but is now starting from scratch here in the US. Don’t know if she would appreciate me sending her links unsolicited, but they are good to have if she ever mentions the topic!

My D has been corresponding with the man that runs [Bra database | Bratabase](http://www.bratabase.com/), but I don’t know if she knows he’s a guy.

He is apparently very helpful however.

My sympathies to all who have to deal with the clothes for skinny girl/big girls problem. I’m so happy that I don’t have to deal with this anymore, but I’m just plain lucky that my exercise and diet took care of it.

Am I nuts to even think about this top (I’m hoping for it to go on sale soon)? I saw it IRL at the store and the beading is really unique, does not look trashy one bit. Ladies, your opinions, please?

Went shopping at Nordstrom last week and bought a pair of Liverpool skinny jeans ($79)–a nice green color. I wore them over the weekend and wanted to share that they fit great and are super comfortable–a nice blend of cotton and spandex. Don’t seem to get baggy at the knees, as have some I’ve tried. Might be worth a try for those venturing into this look.

Heh, I always had the opposite problem - flat as a pancake. Nursing for years did help that problem, still not big on top, but I can find bras now.
